What size tyres?
« on: May 10, 2018, 04:03:58 PM »
Hi Guys
Need a little help. We have had the old tyres taken off the original 14" rims so the rims can be powder coated. We forgot to take note of what size the tyres were that were on the rims. Our local Tyre guy needs to know what size so he can fit the right ones being mind full that we have a highway diff in our Bedford. Don't want anything low profile as its a camper and will be doing a few K's.....one day.
Reading through the forums after completing a 'tyre' search, it looks like we may need to fit 215x14 65???

PS. in the rim it has stamped 5 1/2 x 14
Cheers

you should check the tyre plate on the side of the seat base for the right size , usually inside the door on either side . but I would think they would be around the 185x 70x 14's on a stocky . I would consider going with light truck radials if you're hauling a bit of weight . hope tha helps .Cheers Merlin

Hi Guys
Cheers for the input.

We went with 185/70's. Couldn't get them in light truck tyres as they don,t come in 14's apparently.
We had the rims sandblasted as they were full of surface rust and pretty crappy. They were then primed and powdercoated in satin black. They look awesome. Well worth the $88 each to have done.

Nice. Did you get them primed before sandblasting?

I'm running original rims too. I have put both 185r14c and 195 r14c on. The C means light truck tyre. The 185r14c should be easy to find and cheap as it is a common size. The 195r14c is a little more expensive (say $90 each if you shop around) but I believe suits the van better as it is a little fatter.

Sorry it looks like you have already bought tyres but at least you have options for next time. Rims look good btw!
