Barra powered Bedford van
« on: July 04, 2018, 08:34:27 PM »
One very keen Bedford van owner had his heart set on squeezing
a Ford xr6 turbo engine aka barra engine
Into his beloved beddy 😯
His mechanic friend has documented his progress on a series of youtube videos for us...
Very interesting...got this mechanic sctratchin his head and probably wishing he said no!
I do hope they are still friends after this conversion lol  😆😆😆😆

Yeah I've been watching this, had been toying with the idea myself, but not anymore after what I've seen.  Better to put in an LS me think :)

Haha and Al even finds Bedfords fun 🤣🤣🤣
Were throughly enjoying this model
Its helped us out as to why we we blowing exhaust manifold gaskets
When we were running the turbo on the 202...
Looks like the one piece manifold cant cope with the fluctuations in temperature...the mechanic is using an earlier Ford falcon mani field that's in too pieces to mount the huge turbo on...
So here's hoping I can get Ray  inthused  to get the turbo back on..
Who i miss it 😋😉😊🤣

Yep that was very interesting about the two piece exhaust manifold, would never have thought - ha Ray's got another job!

Yes its good to see even the gold plated professionals like Al have problems with Bedfords, makes me feel better about my own amateur struggles lol !

I'm wondering what the bill is going to be on this conversion?
Also if he is going to give it a coat 0f paint n spruce it up a bit or make it a sleeper...
Wish we had documented all our work on our van....but then again
Thete would be a lot of bleeping out with Rsys reactions and responses
😆🤣😆😉😆😉🤣😂😆
Deep down I know he loves our beddy as much as I do.😁😁😁😁😁
Cheers Wendy & Ray

Yes your van looks mint now Wendy.

Millsy will be mowing lawns until 2050 just to pay for his engine conversion I think - it might end up being a sleeper by default lol!

Hey guys, will be doing a full paint resto so don't stress.
I could have bought a new van but where's the fun in that?

Ahhhh kool mils!!!
Ate you going to tell us the colour?
Yeah restoring on allows you to make it to suit what you want to do
Makes it more personalized....
Were really enjoying watching the videos..
And we're really happy to learn about the 2 piece manifold.
Al is one very clever fellow.😊

Disc brake kit with Chevy PCD (Episode 6) made by Hoppers Stoppers in Melbourne.

Al really likes his lemon squash.  :)
