Hail Storms

Just got hit by another hails storm! I was getting ready to get under the van and tinker with the wiring when the sky went black and I could hear the hail falling from the sky. I ran and got a couple of blankets and covered the sunroof just as the first few bits of hail started to hit. I'll post some pics (when it's safe to turn my computer back on. I'm on the Laptop at the moment) of last years storm that waisted the town. It got called a natural disaster by the Federal Government. The roofs are still being fixed. I'm pooing bricks right now!

This was yesterday's. Turned out to be a baby! Would've scared the pants of all the car dealerships though!

hey Tweaker,
glad to hear it wasnt too bad, n the beddy was safe.
bummer about the mango flowers, i woulda been covering the mango tree with blankets, i love mango,s. i probebly woulda climed up it with a beach umbrella and sat out the hailstorm, hehe.
id be making a gal pipe frame with shade mesh cover for it next year, how big is the mango tree?

The tree is a good size, not too big. You could build a frame but the mesh would have to be made out of steal as all the local farms last year had all theirs destroyed.

I was so buisy trying to save the Bedford that by the time I remembered about the mango tree it was too late. It flowered really early this year, probably due to last years hail, so we might be lucky and have some buds allready forming. Fingures crossed!

Last year the hail I had at my house was 4cm in diameter. down the road at Lou's mum's it was the size of tennis balls. Virtualy every house had it's roof detroyed and lots had the whole side of the house that was facing the hail smashed in. In town it was traveling virtically down the street at 80kms and was the size of golf balls.

I wish I had've taken photos while driving after cause the town looked like a magical wanderland, cause all conrete and bituman was covered green, so it looked like the ground was all green grass. Not a single tree had a single leaf.

my local IGA has a heap of mangoes marked down to 99c,
im going to see the owner tomorow and offer to buy the lot when they go past selling quality, then plant the seeds, and wait till they are good size then do the grafting thing, so by the time im ready to move to murwillumbah/ crystal creek, i should have a lot of good mango trees ready to plant.

I did grafting in trade school. Always wanted to graft a tomoto plat to a not so tomato plant if you get my drift.
