Hey all,

Firstly I'd like to wish everyone all the best for the coming year and hope your vanning experience goes well.
Secondly I'd like to wish all you Aussies contending with the horrendous floods all the best. Hope you're all managing to avoid the damage.

Now onto the topic. Last night my daughter bought home a NZ Performance Car magazine and in it, Primo (flavoured milk company) have built a CF Bedford Ambulance into a promo vehicle and are giving it away in a competition. The van, amongst other things, is fitted with air bags front and rear and in the magazine is a brief 1 page article on the airbag fit. As there has been quite a bit of discussion on here about lowering CF's and the pro's and con's of it, I thought it would be worth posting here. If you have any questions contact the guy's that did it. I'm hoping to go and have a chat with them at some stage. The van is obviously certified for the mods as it's on the road but how robust the design is, how it drives, how the front end is set up and how adjustable everything is, is an unkown. Cost is also unknown. These are some of the questions I'm hoping to get answers to when I talk to them.

Garry, this outfit is in Railside Ave in Henderson, just around the corner from me, offten looked at the name when I drove past, building way back off the road but a large sings means you can find them easy. It seems the place is offten closed, (gates shut) so might pay to phone first before taking the trip over. Bas

the crowd who did it have the title for the highest air bag bounce, the have the "test cars" in the drive way

with the batterys and pumps ... you loose a lot of room to gain a couple of inches in suspension height loss

I talked to them when I was doing my van as I done some of it in my mates workshop just down the road from them, basic kit is about 6 grand, plus installment. Lots of pros and cons, in the end i decided against it

it looks absolutely cracker for a bedford, they have done a nice job on it, time to start dinking primo by the gallon to get the chance to win.
 have to wonder if they would do a basic kit set that one could order and do the good old DIY job to save money and get the same results.

The magazine is the latest, Feb 11, #170, cover pic below.

Yeah i didn't think it would be cheap. There's a couple of grand in those 4 compressors for a start. As you probably wouldn't be looking at bouncing the van up and down you could get rid of three of those for an instant $1500 saving. Don't need all those batteries either. The conversion doesn't look too difficult to do. The hardset part would be setting up the 4 bar links to stabilize the diff. The rest looks pretty basic although I do have issues with the mounting plate for the rear airbags. They just don't look man enough to me for a heavy van.

Anyway it's all food for thought.
