What Diff do I use??? CF 1974
« on: July 17, 2017, 08:16:05 PM »
Hi Bedford Pals,

I've run into some trouble today with my resto, discovered the rear diff will need to be replaced as the engineer won't pass what's there at the moment.

What's the easiest conversion here? I don't need disc brakes, but ok if that's an option (I already have them on the front). I need it to be 5 stud pattern, 70mm centre bolt to bolt (so I can have the same stud patterns on the front and rear), which I think leads me to a diff from a Holden WB Ute. Is this the easiest pathway for me? What else?

Grateful for your help.

Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,
Do you have Bedford or Holden stud pattern on the front you need to match? Maybe you can get the axles modified for your existing diff? Or find suitable replacements, IE I bought a highway diff which had Holden stud pattern axles but swapped my Bedford axles into it  Worth talking to Geoff Mcnamara in moorabbin, he's a diff genius and has lots of experience with Bedfords. Number is 95552213.

I have early 60s Chev Impala diff in mine. With nice width peanut mags on it, the wheels fit under and fill the guards nicely. Also same pattern as HQ. See my gallery pics.
If at first you don't succeed, then sky diving is not for you.
