Dash Cam
« on: January 13, 2015, 08:48:02 AM »
Anyone have/use a dashcam in their wagon?

Am thinking about getting one but from what I see the more expensive ones only have 1.5 hours running time while a cheaper one can have 5 hours

Are there any functions / options I should look out for?

Getting lost is fun, when I was a teenager a group of us used to go out and get lost, one of us would be in the dark so to speak as to which direction we went and we'd try find our way home. A bit of fun especially after a few beers. Could tell a few stories but long story very short two of us had to sit on the bonnet holding torches (alternator died) and also to counterweigh the car as only had 1 spare and got 2 flats.

Haha i like the counter weight idea,:)

Storage Card slot, reputable brand ,
Dont buy cheap ones and not online,
Try getting from harvey norman, super-cheap etc so if something goes wrong its not a nightmare to get sorted.

you can speed, just if you are at the time of an accident you might not be wanting to use the footage heheh!

Hey Busy, mate i have a dash cam in my cruiser, it cost me about $235.00 and it has a forward facing cam and a rear facing cam that plugs straight into the front camera. So i can record forward and rear at the same time. It takes a 32gb 10x card and records unlimited hrs, i have not lost any footage from looping. You can choose to loop or not. When you play it back on the computer you get footage from both cams and a GPS map showing speed, direction, the street and you can follow your vehicle on the map as you watch the footage. You can also use it as a voice recorder.

RESPONSE : QV-3844 is the model and it is great.

It is worth the investment if there is a crash. I was going out one day and as i rounded a slight bend there was a 3 car crash right in front of me, i caught the whole thing on cam. I downloaded the footage to my computer, and i can also grab still pics from the video. So if i want a number plate or something i can snap a pic.
