Came home early from our little travels... The bloody van leaked, right near the bed, l thought l was having a wet dream :o  Got home and chacked it out a bit of rust in the gutters (that wasn't there last year). Got the heater in there drying it out and gonna do a quick boddgy on it and get back out their (spray deadner/tar on it) ;) She'll be right mate the doonas nearly dry and so is the van, nearly time to gum it up ::) ::)  UH, THE LIFE OF A BEDFORD :-\ ::) ;)
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer

G'day

On Friday I took delivery of a 350v8 CFS van that was on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250750943938&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Quote:
It was built by an Australian rally team as a support vehicle and was said to be faster than the rally cars it supported. I have driven it on the dirt and it is absolutely brutal, it has a very performance feel on the road as well, very flat around corners with very stiff springs. Not too big on comfort when cruising but surprisingly more comfortable the faster you drive. Has a beautiful exhaust note that again, just gets better the faster you go, yet very deep and pleasant when cruising or at idle (you have to like the sound of V8's first).

And yes it is fun to drive. I will have new number plates next week:

And it looks to have a history by gunshot wound to the hindquarter:

I know I have always pushed the 6 as being a good motor for the CF and I still think it is the best all round motor for a work truck, however there was definitely a grin on my face when I got out of this van.

My other adventure yesterday was buying a caravan to use as a camp for visitors. It was described as 12 foot long, air/con, fridge, stove, good condition for $400 ono. It was actually 16 foot long, parked against the fence in a small backyard, unregistered, non working DC electrics, no D shackle for the chains, no spare wheel, cracked tyres and nearly 100ks from home along a major highway. I wont go into the misadventure, but it is now at my place.

The rust is actually not too bad. The van has a list of little problems that can be fixed but the mechanicals are strong and it goes hard.
The big advantages for me was a pickup about 6kms from home and a full NSW Engineers Report. It is even registered as a 5 seater. Try getting that done nowadays!

Well yes , about $14/100kms on gas driving it as a V8. I will be interested to see how it runs with my car trailer behind it.
