Not Bedford.
« on: February 04, 2013, 09:40:01 AM »
Hey Guys, this is not anything beddy, but when it comes to the fountain of knowledge where better to ask then here.

I am building a dune buggy, and i came across a gear shifter on you tube that a guy was using, being i cant change gears because of my amputations, i figure it would suit me, but i am BUGAed  lol  ;D if i can find any info on it or even the name.
So here is what it is. A shifter with D - N - R  It is a 3 position shifter, forward for drive, back for reverse, neutral, real simple. So what do they call this type of shifter, where can i get one here in oz or bris  ?? Thanks guys. Here is a pic of what i am doing.

Also, i learnt something new last night about KIWI cops, i always thought they carried guns on duty, but they are like british cops and only specialist units carry, very interesting. The show is 24 hrs : POLICE.

Hey rotti, the one i saw on ytube mounted to the floor with 2 bolts, and then had a bar from the shifter to the gearbox / motor. Here is a pic of what i want to end up with when finished. Fast and stealthy.
Hey johnno, mate i have a Yamahahaha 1100 motor, think thats the size, or i am maybe looking at a 2lt VW motor. Running a muck is nothing, i am going to go ballistic, peddal to the metal. Been a few years, and miss the rush, bloody electric wheelchair just does'nt do it for me.  ;D ;D ;D  I have an advantage, i have 4 acreas, a bobcat and plenty of dirt mounts to go airborn with.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

re the shifter:
Whackhead: My New Car - BMW 320 AUTOMATIC - 94.7 Highveld Stereo

But cereal :) a shifter from ride on mower or make your own, just make the gate like this:  _--_ so it has to go out sideways to go into another gear or risk knocking it.
How about a Suzuki Hayabusa engine? only 1300cc and often used in drag bikes and stuff but one engine for each rear wheel should keep you airbourne for a while ;)

If your using a motorcycle engine then you WON'T have a reverse, you will connect a linkage to the gearshift lever and go sequentialy up or down gears or into nuetral.
