post numbers next to user names
« on: September 16, 2008, 02:07:41 PM »
hey shane do you know what happened to the post counts next to members names when they post? because it makes it hard to tell who is new or not and was quite handy.

cheers

The post count has been removed and I'm trying to replay it with time on line. I may even just show the date registered if people just want to know if someone is new or not.

It serves no purpose in the real world.

On my other forums it was encouraging people to try and post more just to get the number up. This wouldn't be a problem if what they posted was useful to the forum, but it wasn't.
The funny thing is that when I disabled the counter on my other forums the only people to bitch and moan about it were the ones that were posting the rubbish. Everyone else couldn't care less.

Anyway I disabled the counter here before any such problem came about.

I'm getting close to a full day on here now.  Mind you I tend to walk away sometimes and leave it on the page

It only records active connections. So if you have the forum open and walk away, it doesn't just keep on counting.

G'day

I am happy for no counter. People put too much emphasis on it anyway!

Regards
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!
