Now someone should be able to answer this question,,the old public telephones used to have 2 silver push buttons on them . One marked with the letter A and the other had the letter B. What the hell did those buttons do?  :-\ I mean i used to thump the hell out of them in the hope that the telephone would spew out some change for me so i could go and buy my bubblegum.!! Bloody thing never gave me any >:( bloody mongrel...

I remember when telephones had bells and you had to stick your finger in the hole and turn it for each number. Only flash people had these new fandangle push button phones.

I remeber when we had a crank handle phone, we were on a party line, our number was 309, and you had to listen to the ring tones to tell if it was for us or not "2 shorts and a long" was ours.

You had to crank the handle to ring the bell for the operatore to answer you and connect you through.

Now I surf the web on my phone :)

That's right Jeff, back before electronics, and you could fix things when they broke!
But what a different world it was, without TV, cell phones and computers.
Funny old life.

John, You put two pennys in the slot and dialled. when the person answered you had to push button A for them to hear you. This then gobbled up your tuppence. But if no one answered you could push button B and get your money back.
We used to thump them too, and sometimes it would give you tuppence.
Funny old life.

i remember ... the old dial phones, you could tap them instead of paying/dialing, 1 tap for 9, 2 taps for 8, 10 taps for 0 ...
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

I remember when you used to get a Roadrunner cartoon before a movie and you also got intermission so you could go out and top up your supplies at the candy counter.

I got a red phone box in my backyard ex Armadale, but the phone is gone out of it.  It sits with a few old bus stop signs, traffic lights, cross cut saws and a pile of other crap that we kindof like
