well I've made some measurements and the the and old engine and gearbox are pretty much the same size, plus the volvo engine is fitted leaned over about 20 or so degrees which sort of helps with the fitting in the van I think but until I get the old unit out and offer up the new one theres no way to tell for sure

Hey, I'm doing the converison now, so far its taken about a month, I'm self employed so can choose to spend as much time as I like on the van, so far I've put about 4-5 days a week into it. Getting there now, I refurbed the engine with new seals and gaskets, had the head refurbed.

End result will be a 130 hp 4 speed auto with .69 :1 top gear (good for motorway cruising)
Things are going ok with the swap, I had to cut about 100mm out of the passenger footwell which I'm happy with.

couple of pics here....

More pics there if you look at the album

Looks great.
Be sure to paint it inside n out or galvanise it so it dosent rust.
Also be carefull putting an aircleaner down there in case it rains.
A lot of water comes off the front wheels driving in heavy rain.
Cheers marty
life,s better with a beddy, or 2 , :), or 3

Thanks, I have wire wheeled off a lot of rust from the one side where it wasn't undersealed when new, treated, primed, painted and undersealed but the van is pretty good for rust overall.  I got an air filter now.

Anyway, the van is running as of yesterday, initial testing shows good results.
