the cheap way to wheel alighnment i learnt from a beddy mate:)

please note! all suspension parts must be in good working order for an accurate wheel alignment.
A. adjusting toe in
1. take wheels off
2. bolt on 2 bits of straight poles/ bar/ timber/cardboard anything perfectly straight!
3. measure distance between bars at disc brake.
4. measure out 1m exactly both sides and mark.
5. measure distance at 1metre park. for 2degrees (standard) toe in it should be 30mm narrower than at the disc brake.
6. adjust as nessesary by undoing nut off tie rod end and twisting tie rod.
7. bolt wheels back on.

B. Castor control
1. get a big shifter or 2.
2. drive down the centre of the road.
3. if it pulls to the left adjust left side of crossmember forward. same with right.
4. adjust until van pulls either side in the centre of the (unused) road

C. camber control
1. Dont worry about cause bedfords are not technical enough for an adjustment!!!

wahoo just saved $50! to put toward you $800 QLD rego george!

The Sump / want more time?
« on: May 20, 2011, 09:41:20 AM »
hey folks just thought id share this with you guys. incase you desperatly wanna get your van done up but cant find the time like me:)

im always time poor so when i found out about polyphasic sleepng patterns i was quick to try it!

im now on day 10 of everyman sleeping pattern which consists of 1 3hr core sleep and 3 20min power naps during the day.

total of 4 hours sleep a day:)

i sleep from 11pm till 2am then start work!!!!!!

my naps are 6.30am 12.30pm 6.30am.

obviously its a little tricky to fit in with normal life but i am stealing a total of 28 hours a week (from 8hr sleep to 4) from previous sleep i used to have!!!

imagine 28hours extra on the van a week!

the uberman sleeping pattern consists of 6 20 min naps 1 every 4hrs during a 24 hr day. equals a total of 2hrs sleep a day!!! insane.

oh by the way i feel just as good as i did when i had 8 hrs. man am i productive!!!!! read up the physics of it if you want.. its awesome!!!! call me crazy if you want too ha ha everyone else has!!!!

check it out:)

Driveline / motor and diff options?
« on: January 30, 2011, 05:59:30 PM »
i have a delima ive been trying to figure out for some time. and im stuck so im asking some questions to you guys.. and girls if there are any?

what motor gearbox diff should i put in my rough black beddy?

at the moment this old 173's almost carked it! i really want to be able to tow a car trailer and beddy if i need to.. but also want econ for most of the time!

here is my options

i have a good running 202 with reco head new starter bla bla. with the trimatic thats in the van at moment which is running fine

dad has a 253 with ok compression and i have a trimatic thats supposed to be good t go behind it.althou the trimatic is a bit of unknown as ive never seen it running

i have a 307 chev and turbo 400 there that are both strong althou the turbo 400 is a bit of unknown as ive never seen it running

i have a good 3.08 + a 3.55 salsbury diff's which i have big 10x15 wheels and tyres for.

i have a hwy diff with 3.5:1 centre good cond

i have a banjo centre 3:36. i can get a diff off a mate if i need to. if thats any better.

i now have a plasma cutter and mig which im quite fluent at both. good enough to weld up new engine mounts anyway. and modify tailshaft.

right now im time poor and money poor:( which would you do? im leaning toward the 6 ay.
