Exteriors and Interiors / Bedford factory paint colours
« on: May 25, 2015, 06:20:22 AM »
Over the years a few people have asked if anyone knows the paint codes/colours.
I stumbled upon these names but isn't a complete list, there is at least a baby blue missing

Turnpike red
Turnpike yellow
Glacier white
Woodsman green
Coast Ivory

If anyone knows any other factory colours and/or paint codes for these let me know and I'll add it to this list

The Sump / Dash Cam
« on: January 13, 2015, 08:48:02 AM »
Anyone have/use a dashcam in their wagon?

Am thinking about getting one but from what I see the more expensive ones only have 1.5 hours running time while a cheaper one can have 5 hours

I was contacted on facebook looking for CF Bedford or similar for or equivalent for usage on the New prequel Series to outrageous fortune.

They only want good original working condition (not sure if bedford fits this lol)

From them:
We are in production for the new prequel series to Outrageous Fortune "West Side Story".

As part of the production I am sourcing classic 60's to 70's cars to use on the show.

We are looking for all types of vehicles, and in some cases the Bedford would be ideal

If you have a vehicle and would like to part of the show contact us on westsidestorytv@gmail.com or myself (Rere) on 021 252 3488

Many thanks
Rere McLeod

Maintenance / How To - keep back doors from opening
« on: August 05, 2014, 10:49:26 AM »
The back doors can open by themselves when cornering. The main reason for this is structural rust, most likely at the bottom of the back door pillars. Also rust around the windscreen can aid in this as well.

#1 fix would be to fix the rust, even if just back pillars and weld in a gusset at the bottom (going from pillar to section under tail light)

#2 (band aid fix) is to get the longer door stays/latches/catches (whatever you want to call them) at the top and bottom of each back door. They come in two lengths, normal and longer. Most vans come with the normal ones, by swapping to the longer ones it can stop the doors from opening (van can't twist enough to pop them out).
I have never found a model, year or version of van that had these longer ones so you'll just have to keep your eyes open.
Even just replacing one on drivers side (main door) can be enough as that door has to open before the other one can.

I'll try put up a photo soon

Maintenance / How to ideas
« on: August 04, 2014, 06:14:18 AM »
Quite often folks help each other out in threads for other reasons than the thread title, which is great but makes looking for the information at a later date hard, if not impossible so was thinking of doing some "How to" threads.
So am after some input for ideas on threads. Some things already have threads so look before you suggest (unless it needs improving, is titled wrong or whatever)

Ideas are:
  • Doors not closing (door latch problems)
  • Back doors opening by them selves
  • Wiper motor update (commodore or falcon)
  • Mount/align front doors
  • Water proof your front doors

Can anyone think of anything else?
I thought about engines, but as there are so many combinations it would be hard, but if someone wants to do a how to mount a (your engine) engine, feel free to. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

I thought of a "interchangeable parts - mk1 mk2", but would say all parts are interchangeable but some have slight differences.

Your thoughts ?

Wanted / Wanted: bits and bobs
« on: May 12, 2014, 07:52:20 AM »
Howdy all

Am after some small CF bits, sadly I gave all mine away to soon.

1/ the bonnet locator rubbers x2, they go into the front of the guard to locate the bonnet, am after 2 good ones

2/ back door latches (passenger side with cable preferred), the ones at top and bottom of the door, any condition as long as the spring part still works.

3/ inhibitor switch for mk1 CF shifter

4/ steering rack (currently using a crappy one and accidentally gave my good one away). doesn't need balljoints or good boots, just one thats not rusted.

Cheers

Number 1 rule:
NEVER get rid of ANYTHING until you have finished the job.
Don't give it away, sell, trade it, swap it ... keep Everything until the very end

Guess what rule I broke  :'(

For Sale / Beddydore for sale NZ
« on: January 20, 2014, 12:14:49 PM »
My white CF Bedford is now up for sale. 5 grand and it's yours. There are details of it's rebuild on the website and some pictures here in my gallery, hasn't done many k's since being cert'd. rego is only $111 a year, currently on hold. Original panel van, full VN Commodore running gear, engine, box, diff centre, complete loom from end to end, p/tank, dash, steering column, booster. Was a Calias so has the extras, have cruise control for it but never put it on. 14x7 tridents up front with new toyo 205 tyres and 14x8 tridents at back with new 235/14 toyos. Extra heavy duty towbar. Inside has bed in the back with solid ply floor (to weigh back down so no bouncing), bucket seats at the front, I never had time to do the interior so comes with about 5 sheets of 3mm ply for the inside panels. All fully cert'd, HQ stud pattern all round, disc brakes up front. Had all new ball joints, bearings, tie rods and shocks when rebuilt. Has central locking and alarm, central locking (commodore loom) needs to be fitted into doors, currently loom just under door cards. Was a bare metal rebuild but sadly has been kept outside, has a couple of small rust bubbles but nothing major. Van is a '71 mk1 but I've put mk2 doors and mk2 dash panel in it. Van is in Auckland but I'm now in Hamilton so no tyre kickers or test pilots. The grill had a spot of rust and I needed a rusty one for custom van so have swapped the grill, new grill is grey.
