Members Rides / What's my trailer worth?
« on: December 04, 2015, 10:54:16 AM »
Last night some scumbag hit my Bedford trailer and my car that were parked out the front of my house. Apparently I can claim the trailer under my house insurance and was wondering what you guys think it is worth?

Cheers for any input.

CF Bedford Chat / New Bedford
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:59:23 PM »
Hiya   8)
Yesterday we became the proud owners of a 4x4 SWB. It has duel fuel (petrol/lpg), 304chev V8?, 9in diff, F100 running gear, alloy wheels, sidesteps and barwork, power steering, custom dash with thousands of gauges (2diff temps, tranny temp etc). Think we got a steal at $2500 from gumtree. Hubby is NOT getting any more. I think 7 is plenty to play with.  ;D

CF Bedford Chat / Old Ralph's Bedford
« on: October 25, 2013, 10:58:32 PM »
Seen old Ralph again today. I seem to be doing work on his Bedford quite a bit lately, sorting out electrical and gas for him. Some sparky charged him $400 to have a look for a problem and didn't find anything wrong! I had a quick look and sorted it for him. He goes away nearly every time with having some work done or some spare part for his van. Got to look after the old guy. Don't know how some people can rip off the elderly.
Ralph is 82 or so he has been telling me for at least a year!!  He has a ecotech V6 from a VS in his van. He did all the mechanical and electrical work himself. The only problem he encountered was the usual anti-theft system problem.
He has a F100 9in diff. HQ front discs. Transit power steering. Stabiliser bars front and rear. 80ltr gas tank plus the usual petrol tank. Thermo fans. Full electrics and dash from the donor car.
I can't load any pictures as the ones I have are too large to post!!! :-\

« on: August 20, 2010, 01:58:20 PM »
I can't sell my truck and the rego is running out. I have until the end of the month to re register it so if anyone wants it please make an offer or I will be forced to take it to the crushers.   :-[
The local council has told me to get rid of it from the front yard so i can't keep it any longer.

For Sale / selling my truck
« on: September 24, 2009, 10:38:21 PM »
Have decided to sell the blue truck. My daughter can't take it to Tassie as her hubby wont let her drive it on her own, so we are selling it here in WA. Just using it for storage at the moment.
202 Aussie 4 speed, everything works but has a few oil leaks. Original low speed diff. Good tyres. 5 months rego at time of post.

Disk Brakes / Disc Brakes
« on: September 04, 2009, 07:11:22 PM »
Have heard of a lot of different set ups. Some seem to be very time consuming and fiddley. We are running HQ discs with Ford wheel bearings. Original stub axles are about 1" machined down to Ford trailer wheel bearing size 7/8. With usual calliper adapter plate and front bearing spacer washer. Very simple set up and no mucking around getting discs machined. Walk straight into a shop, buy HQ discs and Ford bearings anywhere, no mucking around. This has been a very reliable set up and has been on my van for 25 years with no broken stub axles or any other problems.
I think alot of people get into trouble and break stub axles because they machine them to HQ bearing size, which is alot smaller. Ford bearings fit straight into HQ discs, just have to change the bearing race along with it, which makes overhauling the brakes a straight forward job. If you have car on the road as a daily driver or are travelling around, you can't afford to be waiting around for discs to be machined.
