Hi Everyone. Has been many years since i posted on here last...

I bought my CF SWB back in 2004 with big intentions. It's been 14 years since then and its still a way off being finished. Typical old story, life has happened - kids, work, houses, businesses, etc. So i've made the very hard decision to sell it.

As it stands at the moment:
- There is very little rust. It's been garaged the whole time i've had it, which has been good for keeping the rust out. There are some spots in the channels that are average, but overall its pretty good.
- No major dings, no structural damage, its all pretty straight.
- Comes with all doors and panels in various stages of priming and sanding
- Comes with the original bonnet and a fibreglass bonnet made by Ben, many years ago.
- Has a 253 holden V8 and trimatic gearbox, with 4 in to 1 headers (3" secondaries from memory). Motor has a new fuel pump, new water pump, reconditioned carb, etc. It runs, but needs a few bits and pieces to finish it off.
- Has front seats, steering column, etc.
- Has a box of bits including chrome rocker covers, mirrors headlights, wipers and motor, etc.
- Has a BA falcon rear spoiler fitted (fits awesome and looks cool)
- Has speaker boxes and 'seats' over the wheel arches made from MDF

Has a few things that need some work:
- part of the floor was cut out to fit the V8. Needs strengthening
- I made a new 'front skirt' out of bog when i was young and stupid. it's been fibreglassed over to hold it all in, but depending on your preference you may (or may not) want to do something about it.

Separate to the above, i bought a few bolt on bits that can be sold with it, or separately
- mag wheels with tyres - Black. 18" x 285 rears. 18" x 265 fronts. HQ pattern. (~$2500 new)
- CRS 2" drop stubs (~$1000 new)
- Hoppers Stoppers BA Falcon Disc Brake conversion kit to suit HQ pattern(~$2000 new)

All are new and havent been fitted.

I'd love to get $1000 for the old bedford (not including new bits above), but who knows what it is worth. If you're interested, make an offer.

I have looked in to this a bit. Doing the back appears to be easy as (for a SWB, not sure about the LWB). Most kits designed for a leaf spring rear ("ute" kits) should bolt straight up to the back. Doing the front appears to be a bit more complicated, which is when i gave up. Still considering it for later though, but more pressing things to do on the beddie atm.

Hey Guys,

I bought an LH torana in Jan so that has been consuming a bit of my time. Beddy is still coming along as well though. Have been doing some body work. made my own custom front spoiler out of fibreglass and am halfway through making a custom dash, out of glass as well.

Obviously sharing my time between two project cars is causing things to go a bit slower. But i painted the torana in basecoat the weekend before last. came up pretty good. Hopefully going to get the doors and bonnet etc back on this weekend and do some more spraying. Will see how it goes.

The twincharged idea is coming along. I bought a 6/53 supercharger last week. Picked it up for $150. Needs a bit of work to get it up to scratch though. Planning on stripping it down and replacing the bearings etc (if needed) this weekend. Going to hit the case with a die grinder as well and try and polish it. Probably wont be anywhere near show quality but with some time it should come up ok.

Should be cutting the headers shorter soon and rewelding the flange on so that the turbos can be mounted without fouling on the gearbox crossmember.

Got a new carby as well. have had the engine running but no radiator yet so cant run it for long.

All in all its coming along well but wont be ready for a while yet...

Hi All,
My Name is Nathan but all my mates call me Nathro, so feel free. I'm 24, live in sunny Canberra with my girlfriend and work as a Software Analyst for the government (but no, im not a public servant  ;D). Previous to that i was a Weapons Electronic Engineering Officer (trainee) in the Navy. So if there are any pussers around, say hi. Oh, i am also completing a degree by correspondence.

I currently own 4 cars. My daily driver is a purple BA XR6 falcon, i have a 74 LH SL/R 4200 torana as a project, a 74 LJ GTR Torana as a project and my beloved 1980 CFS Bedford which is in the middle stages of being reborn.

I bought my beddy in october 2004 without knowing anything about bedfords (hadnt even heard the name). I saw it in a carpark and immidiately decided i HAD to have have it so i left a note under the window wiper. after no phone call for a couple of weeks i tracked the guy down and called him. By the end of the day i had bought it for $800. It was a 202 auto that ran very rough, but it had almost no rust, the doors all opened/closed well, and it had the front air dam and flared arches. I was a very happy boy.

Anyways, enough about that. I am a soccer (football) nut and will talk about it for hours to anyone willing to listen. Apart from work, uni, soccer and spending time with 'the wife' most of my spare time is spent working on my beddy. All my mates think im nuts because i have been stripping the beddy right back and doing things that they think are pointless (like last month where i sanded and spraypainted the chassis). Personally i want to make my beddy as good as possible and i thoroughly enjoy spending time working on it so i dont see a problem.

My ultimate goal is to win a trophy at some form of car show for my Bedford. That may not seem like such a challenge in itself, but i have limited myself to $10K to build the van which makes it a bit harder.

The van hasnt seen the inside of a mechanics since i bought it (and it never will). I have no formal trade experience but i have learnt what i know from reading and doing it.

Thats about all i can think of (and likely is about all you want to read) so that'll do me.

so, my mate was tinkering with it last night and worked out the problem. fuel was being pumped but there was a blockage in the line right before the carby. so when we were taking off the rubber fuel hose to check there was plenty of fuel coming through but then getting blocked in the hose. Even a 100psi hit froom the air compressor wouldnt dislodge it.

after changing the pipe and reconnecting the fuel it ran first time. And it was loud. lol. I think we may need to change the exhuast on it.

Driveline / help required with Quadrajet Carby

Hi All,
Have recently bolted on all the parts etc and bought a new quadrajet carb from a carby store. Have connected the vacuum advance to the dizzy and blocked off the rest of the ports.
The engine turns over fine and all of the plugs are firing etc.

I can get the engine to run when pouring fuel down the throat of the carby but i cant get it to run on its own. Fuel is being pumped (have taken hoses off and checked). We have adjusted the timing while the engine is running while pouring fuel down it so that is fine.

The only thing i can think of is that the fuel isnt going through the carby. We have adjsuted the two screw on the front of the carby base (which i believe are the mixture screws?) but have had no success.

Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this (preferably without visiting a mechanic)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah i have thought about upgrading parts but i decided that i will just replace them as they go. Rather than shelling out heaps at once i will just replace them one at a time.

How long ago was that Doof? Cos i rang up about HQ rotors and drop axles about 4-5 months ago and the guy quoted me and everything?

I hope that they are still doing them because its easier (and cheaper) than getting them done as a once off...
