CF Bedford Chat / Re: holden traumatic...

I have a vn t700 on the 2fluffy3 with an adaptor plate think it came from Castelmain rod shop. Needs to be a 5 liter auto because the v6 belhousing is too small. The vn t700 has the mechanical overdrive and locking converter and kickdown cable so you can hold it in gears. Best mod ever done but just be careful on the free way as it tends to hit the 110 and 120 a bit easier than it used too.

Maintenance / Re: Fuel Q

Had a 307 chev that used leaded fuel and when they stopped making it guys told me to just run premium fuel like bp ultimate like John said. Ran it like that for 3 years and sold it on and I never had a issue and neither did the new owners. Up to you at the end of the day anyway

CF Bedford Chat / Finally upgraded
« on: October 05, 2012, 10:39:02 AM »
Well after probably 5 years of saying we wanted to put a bigger carby and manifold on the 2 fluffy 3 it's finally happening yayyyy!!!!!! We have left it up to the mechanic as to how big but gave him stricked orders, 1) it must still be able to run on both gas and fuel, 2) has too fit under the existing engine cover and 3) dress up the motor a bit so it's a bit more flashy  ;D.

The reason for the change is because it's currently running a 2 barrel su carb which is tinny for this thing. The van still went good but just wanted a bit more oomph when it's towing and loaded up with boxes and crap for work. Also because I wouldn't mind being able to dust off the 295's on the bum  :P

I will up load some pics once I get some of the new kit.

No not if it's from a v6 the bell housing is smaller for v6 compared to v8

Well done John, I have been meaning to do my manifold on the ss but wasn't sure if I could do it. At least I know now if I stay motivated I might get a similar result

That looks awesome did you polish by hand or use the speed ball attachment for the drill?

I think they are dreaming with that first one but the second one looks like the better buy as in price and at the end of the day it's the first one built so me personally I would grab the second one if I had to pick. But they might struggle in this current economy to move the both of them.

Driveline / Re: 253 Engine swapping

Hey Russ in relation to the cam for gas I got a mild gas cam installed when the engine was rebuilt along with hardened valves, seats and double row valve springs and it runs very good. Good power right through the rev range and it's still only running a two barrel strongburg with top hat mixer. Plan to up grade to a 4 barrel in the future but when it's not stuffed don't stuff with it hey.

I am a big fan of gas now and the systems just getting better. My old man has a vy clubby r8 and that has a gas research liquid gas injection system on it, and because gas tends to run a bit too lean in higher rpm on the ls1 this system flicks back to petrol after 4000 rpm when you are booting it and once you ease off the throttle it flcks back to gas with no pause or power loss at all. The car makes 276 rwkw on the gas so it's a top system but we bought the car with it on it so we didn't have to foot the $5000.00 bill that the previous owner did lol. But I think it's a great system and means you can drive a quick car every day and not burn a massive hole in your pocket.

Good luck on the light search too be sure to let us know what you pick
