Hello everyone, I'm new. My CFS had a window installed years ago in the left/rear side-panel. It serves well as an over-the-shoulder check for lane changes and left-hand turns. However, I want to return the van to it's original (windowless) condition by welding in a panel. So, my post is three-fold:
1. Can anyone comment on what it's like to drive a van without this window?
2. Does anyone have, or know of, the vertical pillar adjacent to this window? Perhaps a wreck which has this part intact.
3. Does anyone know what happened to Rod McMillon, the Bedford Bits guy in Heathmont, Victoria.

yep.
1. its not that great reversing out of angle parking.. but the looks of the van is far greater benifit i think.. simply looks awesome..
i will be doing this to my van shortly.
2. i have wrecks at mine. depending on how quickly you want to go ahead with your mod will detimine if i can help you out. i have a fair bit on my plate at the moment but could probably help you out in the next coming few weeks.
3. rod mcmillon got feed up with selling bedford parts.. not too sure why he did. but i know how he feels.. im bit sick of spares also. no money in it. and too time consuming to pull the parts off old rusted out vans.. he sold all his parts to a bloke in ballarat. did have his number. now lost.
rod was one very few blokes that sold beddy parts at a reasonable price.. we do miss him. but thats the way things go..
cheers

I grew up driving a windowless van, you just have to keep a good eye on what is around you and be vigilent with your mirrors. One of those curvey little mirror thingos on your passengers side mirror wouldn't go astray either.
Are you doing this mod yourself or getting a panelbeater to do it? reason I ask is I am going to get that poxy window removed as well, and am wondering what to expect $$$ wise. Love the windowless look but don't want to do it myself and get heat distortion on the panel as I reckon that would look worse than the window!

im going to be making some windowless sections out of fibreglass soon.. to do exactly what your talking about hotrod and rubber bedford, if you dont want to pay (i got quote $2000 for 4 removed windows not long ago) then ill have them available for $75 a section..
i will set it up so its easy for the average guy to get perfect..
but its still on the cards.. after i get all my orders out of the way.. whenever that will happen.
let me know if your interested..
