This van did the show scene back in the 70's and am sure many members of this group would remember it. It is in pretty good condition- Has been inland almost all its life and has minimal rust(some surface rust on roof and i reckon a little bit in around the flares). Origional paint/murals are still underneath less than average white paint work that appears to have been sprayed straight over the top some years ago. Crows feet in thick murals can be seen through white paint.Star Wars was built professionally back in the day with no expense spared.
* 307 chev stroked to 327 by P&P Performance Wagga Wagga approx 50,000km ago(could use plugs leads points but still runs well when warm)
* Extractors, quadrajet carburettor from WB statesman jetted for chev(great economy & performance depending on how you drive it!)
* Turbo 400 gear box with additional transmission cooler in good working order, fitted with B&M shifter.
* 5 core radiator
* 9" LSD Diff believed to be from ford galaxie in good working order(no whine) with galaxie brakes.
* Ford disc rotors on front with Holden HZ calipers, huge aftermarket brake booster
* Van has reset lowered rear leaves and HD front lowered coils. Huge sway bars front & rear.
* XC fairmont grille, 5mm thick alloy front bar, no side cargo doors, professional flare job, checker plate side steps, frenched antenna, single rear door top opening with ambulance glass(etched chevy bowtie in glass), 4 x HZ sedan tail lights, smoothed rear end with no bar, alloy rimmed holes in rear, functional air scoops in bonnet(bonnet a little out of shape from opening at speed but repairable), targa top sun roof. seats sit on captains chair poles, custom fibreglass full dash. Too much chrome to mention with most of it in good order (steering column, door hinges/latches, pedals, radiator support, brake lines, bolts fittings etc) anodised brake line fittings also. 10" rear & 8" front rims with good tyres(do not scrape on guards).
I have the Van Wheels Mag with it pictured back in the day.
I had planned on keeping it forever but now have found myself with nowhere indoors to store it and i cant bare to see it rust as i now live at the coast.
It would make a most awesome project as it still has the base to be one of the best beddies in the country. It's never had a prang, just a couple of little dings.
If your interested im happy to answer any questions + take & post current photos you require.
It's advertised in next months 'Just Cars' for $7k

K.. To respond to email requests here is some more info & pics as requested.
I have owned the van for a bit over 10 years. It was registered for about 4 of those years and i let it run out and then placed the van in storage. It has never had or required an engineers certificate as back when it was built they were not needed and it had been registered ever since. I have both NSW and ACT papers with engine shown.
It was painted white before i purchased it and looked like it had been painted white for a few years previously. The white paint job mentioned was and still is atrocious simply being painted over the top of any body imperfection. No body repairs or painting has been carried out since ive owned it. I believe there to be minimal rust as all body mods were done professionally back in the day and i believe the van to have never had any rust repair. The roof has surface rust on the outside.
The rear door needs attention. when origionaly built star wars had no rear doors at all. a mobile disco business had the door made approx 20 years ago. it is made from 2x standard doors with hinges at top and 2 x struts. a hinge broke off the door(not rust related) on me and i had it repaired but not as well as i could have been. I had always planed to replace the heavy rear door with a fibreglass version and recommend same.
In the pics you will see discouloured stains on the paint work. this is from the 20 cans of fish oil spray i put on the van when i moved to the coast 4 years ago. Up until 6 months ago it has been garaged and has since got surface rust on the roof.

to be totally frank.. i am a bit shocked that noone has fronted the cash for the old girl. not even an offer ya weirdo's! game on moles.. 7k or she's not for sale, starting april 1 i want 8k :P i wish you all well on your quest for give aways lol
-
Well maybe we don't have a spare $7K laying around :o
I certainly don't ( I'm lucky to have a spare $7)

Probably a good indication of what it's worth as well as it's only worth what people are prepared to pay and if there haven't been any bites then you might be setting your sights a bit high. It has nothing to do with 'giveaways'.
It may have been a show van in the 70's but that's 30 to 40 years ago now.

if you really want to sell it maybe try ebay and with some more detailed photos, there has been some good vans fetching a high price there.

:) thanx for the response lads, and thanx heaps for the pics Craig

I have to agree with the others, a $7000 purchase is a big ask particularly in this economical climate, I was lucky to find a beddie which is in good nick and comes with an engineers cert and a fresh paint job and on dual fuel and a reco V8 and 70s style upholstery and swivel seats and good rubber ......... all this for $2300, may not be an ex show van but certainly was a good find, I'll spend a couple more grand on her and get driving out towards the horizon ;) not a bad runner for under $5k, ex 30 year old show van? wow !!!! but in my humble opinion and very respectfully of course I would forecast that $7k would be the total price upon completion. Put it on ebay, you may be suprised, the last ex show van I was following in Albury went for $6k plus .....
-
Yeah I have to agree also. if you remember late last year a blue bedford was sold on ebay in Woolongong. now it was a fantastic van with very little to do
just my opinion but 8K finished is better than 7k project
all the same it has great potential and you might be suprised, I hope you are it will prove there is still hope for the old beddies yet

check it
