does anyone know if the USA chev van engine mounts bolt up to bedford vans. as both are GM and this might make engine swaps easyer.

back in the day I played around with a lot of HK/HT/HG monaros, owned 6 over time and wish i still had them all.
I did 3 x 6cyl/V8 chev swaps over time and the same engine mount adaptor used each time so the V8 Chev mounted on the origonal 6cyl position on the cross member, no welding required. It was an adaptor that bolted up to the origonal post on the cross member and raised the mount to accept the V8 mount bolted to the block. It effectively raised the position to allow for the V and accepted a bolt through the the new mount moving it back about 1". The Gearbox position and rear of engine stayed the same.
I would think these would work the same on a bedford.

hi 6pac. what i wanting to do oneday is fit a chev 292 6cyl into bedford van. the 292 6cyl did come out in the USA chevy van. so i was hopeing to get the chevy van engine mounts to use in bedford for the 292 engine. what do you think . thanks john

I talked about this swap about 2years ago & put photos up The chev motor is longer than the holden but most of all is a lot taller but I recon it would a great swap if they were more plentiful

theres a chevrolet 292 on gumtree $450 ono. there not hard to find. long standing truck wreakers have them. theres lots of dis use bedford truck about.

Seen one of these come up on Trade Me a few years ago, and at the time thought it would be a good swap for the 202 in the bedford, may even be able to get away with the 202 cert over the pits, ( a holden sticker on the "tap cover", and a Holden Air cleaner with Holden on it )as I sure most of these guys don't even know of a Bedford van let alone the difference between a 202 and a 292 ;)
The truck is powered by a EFI nitrous injected, dual four barrel 1968 Chevrolet 292 Straight-six cylinder engine that has been overbored .060?

As mentioned the 292 is a much taller engine so fitment and clearance will be the issue.
I am an advocate of doing everything you can to the engine you have so you don't have to go to the rego people/engineering expense.
If you keep an eye out on ebay/gumtree some old 235 strokers come up.
I have some experience with these helping a mate fit one to his FJ ute and getting is registered. The rules were, at the time, you could go from a grey to a red motor but max 161 in size. (We also fitted a HR disc brake front end on it.)
The problem was the stroker had 202 on the block? Solution - we ground off the 202 and the engine block and the engine number.
Went down the wreckers and he gave us an old 161 short. we got out some plastecine and made a mold of the 161 on the block.
When to his dads shed and got out the lead he makes his fishing sinkers with and melted it to make some lead 161 numbers and super glued them onto the block.
Borrowed the set of number and letter stamps from work and took the engine number from the 161 short and stamped it onto the 238 stroker.
Anyhow all lic ok.
The ute ran a 5 speed toyota box behind the 238 and triple webber carbies.
This combo was a huge difference in torque and made its power in a completely different range than all the red motors we had played with previously. I can recall riding 2 in the front + 2 x IT490 Yamaha's in the rear at +100mph
The engine never saw over 5500rpm but it pulled from about 1700 like a train.
So if i saw one of these come up i would swap that in place of the 202 and all you have to fill out is the change of engine number form!!!
It would be hellishly expensive to do from scratch due to the machining required on cranks to make it fit.
