Yes Marty, now I can type properly, I must iterate a huge HUGE THANKS to Bill and Matt Brown, the boys ended up going right through that motor, new rings, bearings, pistons, timing chain, and anything important got replaced, if anyone knows Bill, (huge speedway / Motorsport fanatic here in Perth) used to build and race sidecars(twins) + HQ's... 6's ( and still does) his attention to detail is second to none...an amazing fello...and Matt who has his grandfather's gift.....thanks again Lads!

Looking good Dano. I'm keen to hear your verdict on the King Springs once you are back on the road.

Looks like Borrie has taken on a lot of love, looks great - after all that effort -so she should.
Are we going to be introduced to the new look Borrie at a BBQ on the 18th?

No worries at all Dano, it has been a pleasure seeing the old girl return to glory. After the maiden voyage today, she has well and truly proven to be a weapon!
We'll have to get these LWBs back together for a cruise in the near future.
If the gallery will allow it (upon completion) I will upload those videos of the first start aswell

Man, what a day....THAT...my friends was the sweetest ride Iv'e had in a long time, Matt and Bill again to the rescue, this morning I finished the throttle bracket (4th one I think...lol) and then welded the trans kick down to that, on off on off on off, you know how it goes.... topped up the trans fluid, one final check, tools on board and off we went... Maiden voyage....had a nasty carb back fire, that timing wouldn't budge, not knowing the Quadrajet carb, I called my lifeline Matt for advice, after a short slow and steady cruise to Bills, the boys again waved there magic wand and presto, the sweetest sound to any blockhead, a purring Lyon.....
Gordon, I love the king springs, when I had them in the shorty I used to travel monthly to and from Perth to Albany a 400km trip, the request was "to handle at high speeds" ....it did just that....I only really noticed a difference when I fitted the 15" rims, and a low profile tyre.... but today it seemed really fine, mybe the extra weight of the lwb, but really was pretty dam good, bearing in mind I also replaced the steering uni and dropped tyre pressure a tad too...felt like it was on rails.
Iv'e also filled the tank and started a mileage that I had started b4 the big bang theory started... ;) watch this space.

Does anyone have the on/offset's of the original beddie rims, mainly LWB front and back...can't find it in the manual, rims size yes but offsets ...no. Thanks in advance , it's for the licencing mob...Dan
-
Have you tried googling it Dano?
-
Hey Dano i'll measure mine tomorrow for ya
Cheers Neil
-
I am not sure if LWB rims are different to SWB or not ? but I had one standard rim with my Bedford and this is what I found from it.
it measures at 125mm backspace on a 170mm rim

Dan
I gave my lorry to Dan Petit to certify,He couldn't find any info on the wheel track at first, After some serious digging between him and the pits they came up with the original measurement and that was 1665 from wheel center to wheel center, Being a commercial vehicle they allowed an extra 50mm taking the maximum width to 1715, with the skinny wheels I came in at 1710 which they passed,
I could have pushed the point with the wide wheels but they wanted substantiated evidence that it would be safe, this required FEA calculations and huge engineers reports with a matching price tag, it was cheaper to buy 4 rims and wheels and get done with it, these I sold an hour after the papers were signed for the same price I bought them for , Although the back was much wider they weren't too phased by it because they figured the 9'diff is indestructible.
Good luck with your venture. it'll be worth it in the end
