Title: eddys camper for sale
Post by: eddy on January 27, 2009, 05:19:12 PM
due to the need for a bigger tow vehicle I have decided to sell my campa to purchase another beddie , I am seeking reasonable offers from members rather than putting it on ebay

the beddie campa van can be viewed in my gallery, after owning 12 beddies I can honestly say that this van is the by far in the best condition rust wise, it is a factory import with only two previous owners and was imported to from England by the original owner, comes with heaps of extras, I am more than happy to answer any questions honestly and straight up regarding the vans condition, I am regretting offering it for sale but I must be a realist to fund the next beddie project, if I was not in need of a tow van then I would not offer the campa for sale, if  interested reply to this post ...... I.m about to head off to the city to do a media interview but have enough time to give some basics (couldn't do it last nite cause Dokic was playing) there is NO motor or box in the van at the mo. I removed the 253 and the last jobs were putting a brand new windscreen rubber on the van, by the way when I removed the original rubber there was NO rust in the lip, there is NO structural rust above the windsreen or down the A pillars. I refaced the overhead console with varnished ply. The van has a 9" and disc brake front with HQ stud pattern all round, the flares and front dam are all bolt on and currently in undercoat. there are two options with the motor , 253 & trimatic or black 202 with trimatic, the 202 is EFI nad I have all the parts to update it. I can put the black 202 in and add normal carb to make it mobile but that would be an additional cost for my time, I can put the 253 back in but I would need to replace the valves 1st and again at additional cost, it is not certified for the V8. or you can put your own motor in it. It is a fully fitted campa, solid pop top (no canvas) has a sink, 3 way fridge, double bed and two overhead roll out submarine bunks, tinted windows alll round, 100 watt headlights.

I will be keeping the stereo but will leave the wiring in place, I will be taking the dual battery switch, I will keep the steering wheel but have a steering boss kit or will find an original steering to put on it, it has a V8 engine cover, 3 core radiator, I will replace the bonnett with an original cause I am keeping the bonnett with the moulded WRX scoop, Ben has taken a mould of the bonnett for those interested, comes with cragar type mags 14 x 7 & 14 x 8 with all good tyres (heaps of tread) the van will need a respray, there is surface rust but NO structural rust, I have the original front seats which fold down flat to make two single beds instead of one double bed. I am 6'0 the bed is west east and I can just fit, needs a few things to improve it but I can assure all that it is sound and is a fantastic base to start with. It has an heavy duty tow bar, optional bullbar and heavy duty roof rack with canvas zipper bag. I removed the lpg bottle and stove in favour of a safer cheaper butane portable cooker.

The cost? be real, I like anyone else want as much as I can get to fund the next project which is gonna cost me a basic $4000 before I even start making improvements so add on more dollar than the basic price, I have had a keen enquiry last nite and will do all I can to help the buyer with my own time and energy but do not want to loose money by finishing or rebuilding the van to someone elses tastes, if I do that I may as well finish it and put it on ebay.

Sorry brothers don't mean to sound harsh but I know you will appreciate me being straight up  ;)

duel wheel diff wahoo!!!!

yep, plans are for 308 and suitable box with big radiator, engineered cert, 15" rims on the 9" , respray colour matched to the caravan, then rego, then look at air con thinking of the tarago overhead units, possibly look at a dual wheel diff afterwards, now that would make an interesting swb look, I measured the centre of diff to the tow ball and is 100 mm less than the same measuring points on the stationwagon, there was some concern that the length would cause some exageration of movements from the steering to the caravan but as it less than the stationwagon and because there were no problems when towing with the stationwagon I am hoping that there will be no probs with the swb as opposed to a lwb, now thinking about gutting the inside original cabinets to suit our needs, changing from the original to incorporate a slide out kitchen and fridge and give us more carrying capacity (spare wheels, tools and mountain bikes etc,) shame really because the original is in such condition that it doesn't warrant gutting and would not be able to be returned to the original condition and layout ......  buga, should make a sweet ride but shame to see the original gutted .....

Hey Eddy Reid here havent posted for ages been too busy repainting my campa Now about your tow vechile dont know why you didnt do this in the first place youve got a good solid campa that had a V8 in it already all you need is a good solid auto "dont go manual" about a 3.08 diff discs all round throw in some air & you got the best I thought about a dual wheel diff I recon that would look tuff Ive been laying under my Beddy & my 94 EF V8 Fairmont with a tape & I recon that disc break diff will fit without widening just have to get wheels with 20mm less offset about 8" wide & that would fill the rear tub up nice Falcon discs on the front & your in business Anyway enough raveings lots of luck Reid

thanx for the input guys, I have been very particular in deciding what to do and tried alot of different avenues, now that I know where I am at I can get on with it, that dual wheel set up sounds intriguing but I like the mags too much to ditch them at this early stage, will wait till I'm towing before deciding which route to take, thanx again for the encouragement   ;)

hey BigT no worries at all bro, I did reply to your message very politely with the reasons for directing all enquires through this post, I was serious about selling the campa and never fobbed you off as you say, for one I don't know who Tony is? and for another I cancelled the purchase of the other beddie which was dissaponiting for me, quite frankly I do not have the inclination let alone the energy to give beddie brothers the run around, however, I respect your views ..... warmest regards Eddy MAC

if I can add further, the reason for selling the campa is quite specific as openly described in my previous posts, I am under pressure to get the tow vehicle organised before April this year in order to do a long term trip, I put the campa up for sale to finance the next project, I was quite up front with the reasoning and I gave interested persons what i thought was a fair time to respond, I allowed a two week advertising period so I could inform the party that I was buying from ample time to discuss or make arrangements for the purchase as they are interstate and there would be issues with delivering the van,  in fairness to that person I thought it appropriate that I didn't waste his time either.

No active response was received on this post as politely requested so in consideration for the seller I informed him that I was withdrawing from the sale.  That left me no other option but to withdraw the campa from sale. I have every faith that the for sale section on this web site does work and will continue to do so. BigT if you are in a position to offer other options that will suit both of us then please PM me. regards Eddy MAC

Hey Eddy! How are you big fella? Hope things are going well for you.
Just one question in regards to converting the interior of the camper (sorry to swear)
How the 'F' are you going to bring yourself to rip this out? I'd be in tears every step of the way.
Such a beautifully original interior.

hey Jock, yeah your'e spot on, thats one of the reasons i advertised the campa cause I reckoned some other beddite would put it to good use, still opening the back doors looking in and ....... dunno just can't bring myself to breaking up the cabinets to get them out ...... but where do I put two spare wheels, a box of tools, two mountain bkes, a bbq and other toys all the time the clock keeps ticking ... crikey may still be looking at the back and closing the door again, may not be April at this rate  :-\
