Title: ?bay is starting to disapoint me.
Post by: Marishka on January 20, 2009, 01:13:00 AM
bought an item off ?bay recently, was supposed to be new, got a clearly damaged and clearly pre-opend and repaired item, but still damaged
anyone had similar dealings with ?bay sellers?
seller tried bullshiting me saying are u sure its damaged,
?bay was no help as it wasnt bought using ?aypal,
and the sellers get away with it as there,s no contact details of the seller to go see them face to face. i sent the seller a message sayin id like to talk face to face, will see if he has the balls.

clearly cowards, getting away with shonky dealings

had an issue a few years ago, paid the money $1600.00 and never got the goods - ebay were useless as i also didnt pay through paypal but the Police got the guys details and contacted him and lo and behold - my goods arrived. If this guy has been dodgy, i'd send him an email telling him unless he gives you a refund, you will pass everything on to the cops / or your solicitor - they can get the pricks details. Wouldnt hurt to give a really shit feedback as well!

cheers

G'day

It is only starting to disappoint you?

I has been really annoying me for a while now.
I have been fairly lucky with my purchases, but I know a fair few people who have been caught buying and selling.
Customer service is non-existent.
Any and all suggestions and recommendations are ignored.
The fees are horrendous.
The mapping is screwed up so that ebay has me about 300kms from I live.
It seems they are on a death wish.
The problem is there is still nowhere else to go to sell.
I just hope someone pulls their finger out and sets up a proper alternative soon.

Regards

I haven't had any bad experiences but I am extremely careful.

• You need to read the listings carefully.

• You need to ask all of the questions that you want to ask them before you bid.

• You need to pay close attention to their feedback score and comments.

• You need to pay through paypal for better security. (I have managed to get several successful refunds throguh Paypal)

• You as the buyer need to contact and confirm the items condition and your delivery address once the auction has ended.
If anything doesn't add up - simply don't pay them.

Sometimes you can be as careful as you can but you still get caught out.
You choose to deal on Ebay - you should know full well that the deal may go sour.
Everyone gets burnt once, next time it makes you a little wiser.

I have used ebay sparingly over the last 3 or 4 years and had no problems.

But Jocks advice is spot on, it's all buyer beware.

I havent sold anything on it yet so cant talk about the costs etc and I don't buy big ticket items on there, but I have had good results with all of my dealings (except for the last bloke I bought a speedo cable off - he took bloody ages to send it :D hey Marty)

That reminds me got to leave some feedback  ::)

i buy and sell on ebay a bit.. never had a problem.. not really that cautous either. never loked at someones feedback before buying off them. hardly ever use paypal.

guess it depends on the goods your buying also..
