Quite often folks help each other out in threads for other reasons than the thread title, which is great but makes looking for the information at a later date hard, if not impossible so was thinking of doing some "How to" threads.
So am after some input for ideas on threads. Some things already have threads so look before you suggest (unless it needs improving, is titled wrong or whatever)
Ideas are:
- Doors not closing (door latch problems)
- Back doors opening by them selves
- Wiper motor update (commodore or falcon)
- Mount/align front doors
- Water proof your front doors
Can anyone think of anything else?
I thought about engines, but as there are so many combinations it would be hard, but if someone wants to do a how to mount a (your engine) engine, feel free to. Pictures are worth a thousand words.
I thought of a "interchangeable parts - mk1 mk2", but would say all parts are interchangeable but some have slight differences.
Your thoughts ?

definitely a good idea busy! I've done plenty of searches in my time on this forum and many others and that is the single biggest issue I've seen!!

great idea Busy
how about headlights, updating to brighter lights, things to know, i.e larger wires, relays
battery set ups, one or two
changing stub pattern on front or back
maybe an interior set up...
maybe some suggested products, highly recommended ones....water proofing, sound deadening, heat proofing,

Awesome idea Busy !

Definite winner. If it was only 1 thread, I would vote for interchangable parts.. not the common drivetrain bits (thou I do love wendy's current thread on the turbo ;D), but steering/spindles etc and what fits from other brands/models of cars and there are regular questions about gearing, so maybe diffs and gearboxes.... (yes, that's 2). How many of us have bought new door locks recently (for example). And the Commodore wipermotor... would never have even thought about that. Also loved the link (from sammy? ) re getting the best from a holden red motor.
As our vans/trucks are getting older, we need to be smarter.
We don't need to reinvent the wheel, just grease the axle a bit better.

replacing door rubbers?
i agree about interchangeable parts

installing windscreen wiper stalk on steering column....from ford or whatever

installing windscreen wiper stalk on steering column....from ford or whatever
a landrover series 3 stalk is almost identical to the original a couple of different coloured wires easy to sort out took me about 1/2 an hour to install

Need some photos please:
Has anyone got a photo of the inside of a front door without a door card, my doors are to modified. Ideally need 3 pictures, 1 of each model.
Also a picture of a back door latch (top and bottom of the door), either one, just after a photo of the unit itself, doesn't even have to be on a door
Post them or PM them to me and I'll start writing some up
Gunning, do you want to do the headlight and battery one? If you don't want to start the thread you can PM me the details and photos

gday Busy
Im still working on my headlights, still trying to find some time, and waiting on some parts, grab a few new tools as well...im not rewiring the whole lot either just adding in a harness so maybe what im going to do isnt the best
i havent done the battery/ dual battery set up either, that was just an idea i threw out, i havent got a battery at all at this stage
i may be able to get some pics of a door without a door card

Great idea Busy. The inside of my van is pretty much stripped out at the moment (or in the process of) so I can get you some front door pics. I also have the article I did on the VANZ website re putting the 350 chev in my van so you're welcome to use that if needed.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers,
Garry.

Hi Busy,
I can get some door photo's ..have the rear doors from the vans I stripped and a spare front without door cards- they are from a standard van.
Also will write up something about wiring. I am no auto electrician, but can explain the basics and upgrading headlights should be a piece of cake.
Can you pm me an email address I can send them to.
Thank in advance

i think this topic or thread had a lot of potential
later tonight when im home ill take a few snaps of something small....temporary, ive done to one of my bonnet hinges which has tightened them up. i had alot of lateral movement. I planned on drilling out all "studs" (not sure of what to call them) and replace. Tighten up and make smoother. Also install a gas strut on it, that really eliminated the lateral movement. Its an easy lift strut which is not what i want though. ill source another type
Also ive just started using "rain X" think thats how its spelt.....good stuff

Yes, I still have to write that, don't I.....
