Brits At The Beach takes place over the first weekend in October down at Whangamata for any kiwis who are interested. Google "Brits at the beach" for the programme of events over the weekend. Over 100 entries already including my CF. Come on folks, gives you 4 months to get your project back on the road.

4 months, might as well be 4 years... :D

Hey Bas, your'e not that far off. That window recess plug of yours is nearly there, then its just final prep of the body, a lick of paint, your diff and the new exhaust. You could easily do it in 4 months. Once she is on the road you can slowly finish off the interior. At least you've got no cert issues and your motor and box are sweet. I can picture your van sitting next to mine at the Drive In movie evening that they have got planned. How's that for an inspiring vision :)
-
Or very, very scary ;)
Keep at it Baz. Little bits at a time.
As long as it's drivable, it's less of a pain.
-
Hope it's not 4 years Bas. We want to see you at the Nationals next Easter in Paeroa. ;D ;D

Was as a figure of speech at the time, now I am not sure ???, Yes I will be there, as Gordon said van is pretty sound and is progressing well. ???

Hey Bas, 171 entries to Brits at The Beach so far and only one lonely ol' Bedford. You can do it !
-
Yea Gordon, I will try, (You can do it !) sounds like Bob the Builder, a kids movie my son used to watch in his younger years. ;)

We had an awesome weekend at Brits at the Beach despite some really bad weather. There were about 520 vehicles in attendance. Everything from a 1913 open roadster up to the latest Jag sports model. Sadly very few vans apart from a really neat looking Morris Minor and a Transit MK2 that is running a Holden 3.8 litre V6 conversion. There was a Bedford camper that we spotted in the town one day. There were some epic drives over the weekend and we racked up just under 800km. A few pics for those who are interested.

Good stuff Gordon. Good to see the Transit had a GM fitted for power. Hopefully could make that next year assuming I get the van back on the road as scheduled.
-
love the stance of your van Gordon, good work

Thanks for the feedback Gunning. I've got to say that the handling has improved 100 fold with the dropped suspension. I had a Triumph TR3 trying to give me a go through the hills going towards Tairua and he couldn't keep up. When we reached our destination the chap came across and asked me what I was running. He couldn't believe that an ugly old panelvan had shown him a clean pair of heels.
Garry, it is a really good weekend away. They had an MGF as the main prize for their draw. It was won by a lady from the North Shore. Not really my cup of tea, but a really nice prize anyway. The chap with the Transit has a second van that is the panelvan option. Its painted in Lotus Cortina colours and was originally used as the tow vehicle for a Lotus Cortina. He also owns an Escort RS2000 and runs an Escort panelvan in the Targa NZ. He has got a mate who is busy building a Supervan replica out of a MK1 Transit.

Did you get his contact details?
-
Hey Gordon , what is a MGF prize ???
Glad you got to see that Triumph in your rear view mirror ;D
Cheers Frank

Sorry Frank, my post was a bit cyptic. The main prize was an MG car series F model. Its one of the newer rear engined MG cars.
