ok on another point what is a good upgrade for the beddy thats a better motor & box but cheap to run, 6cyl V6 ??? auto, manual?? whats a good match & not alot of modding...
ideas people...

Check out the forum section. Sky is the limit & most options have been discussed there. In the end, it will be what your local registration will allow. No use wanting a V8 if they will only let you have a 6. Oh and $$ ;D

Theres lots of options, comes down to time, money and effort. As your in NZed Engineering doesn't seem to be as hard as here in OZ so if you can pick up a v6 holden cheap you could use it as a donor, you dont say what motor its got in it now, but the ever reliable 202 and 4 speed make a good combo.

have a 202 red with 4 speed 1-ton box & v8 diff. just looking at a more updated and cheaper to run setup

I'd say a commodore v6 and auto is going to be the best economy and power, but then it requires a fair bit more work and mods than a hotted up 202.
like said above though, really a matter of how much you want to do and how much time and money your willing to put into it.
im about to start a efi commodore v8 into my Bedford shortly, it might use more fuel than a v6 but its going to be better for towing and its not going to be a daily so im not too fussed with extra fuel use over a v6.

The V6 has plenty of power for towing

Ive got a black 202, auto, out of a commodore
for sale if anyones interested

ok im going to plod along with the 202 for now but maybe a v6 retro later on.. it was just the 202's are getting on & parts are not getting easier or cheaper to get
like carb etc. and an injected would prob be better... ???

yeah definitely EFI is nice to have, but I believe it requires cutting of the tunnel to fit!
