Title: buying from or moving to another state.
Post by: matty on November 04, 2008, 09:39:00 PM
I was wondering if any one has issues with changing staes as I'm thinking of bringing my van up north from NSW to QLD, being that
the van is modified and enginered Should I be preparing myself for one big head ache?

As far as i'm aware I don't think that move will have to much dramas for you.  I think N.S.W are more strict than Qld.

Hey Matty seek out and ask Maymann, didn't he get his modified Vic van going in Qld recently? speaking of interstate engineers certs, this is a true story, I bought a van from NSW with a chev and a heap of other modifications, took it to get registered in Vic, produced the NSW cert and then we inspected the engine, couldn't find the engine number so the Inspector handed me a set of tools and asked me to stamp the engine number shown on the cert onto the engine block, then we went back to the registry where I paid for the new rego got me new Vic plates and drove home with a huge grin ..... don't think that would ever happen again  ;)

A couple of years ago I failed the 6 monthly Cert. of Fitness on my house bus as we couldnt find the chassis number. The testing bloke suggested that I go away and find it, just there, and come back. I stamped the number on in the right place and passed the CoF.
There are still a few decent blokes around.

Re- move from nsw to qld
Bought a 46 chev hotrod from nsw years ago (in gallery)
By memory nsw engineered vehicles are recognised by qld transport,  had to pay an engineer $90 to write me a letter to say everything was as stated in nsw engineers cert
he came around stuck his head underneath said thats fine and took my $90
next day he posted me the required letter, I went to Qld transport handed over the appropriate amount of money and they gave me new plates and a rego sticker! SWEET.
