Hey Guys
Was driving my red 202 engine CF today - noticed what seemed to be a flat spot or a misfire a few times? Happened a few more times - then just broke down doing 100km.
Stopped on the side of the road an hour later it kicked back over and "just" made it home with the same flat spot / misfire feeling.
Any ideas? Would love some help before I take it to a mechanic
Cheers

points or electronic ignition?
-
Thanks mty, would electronic ignition affect the van whilst driving? Might check the points Cheers

sounds like the problem i had last year. new electronic ignition distributer and coil fixed it, no dramas since, :)
put a new set of points in it, or
if you can afford it change to electronic distributer and coil to suit,

If you have a standard points setup it could also be a faulty condenser. Its worth replacing if you are going to do the points anyway.
-
Ok thanks Gordon I will take a look at the condenser
Again, thanks for all the helpful tips!

I had a problem with plug wires shorting out on the engine cover Start the moter up at night & lift the bonnet & look for sparks jumping around near the disi I could hear them while driving around
-
hmmm does sound a bit "coily" to me, ol futile done the same to me last year, intermittant then just shat itself halfway between broken hill n home....
-
i would think its just be bad connections.. check earths. check wire running from chassis to the engine.
and all wires connected with the ignition system.
