Thankyou all,i will definitely visit other Bedsters when i eventually hit the road back up north xox  :)
Wazza, lets organize a Vic beach weekend away at start March ?? ,every ones already gone away, and you knew a beach site for the next one???

Question-Gas conversion: Now i have time again im considering converting my beddy to gas(Even though gas tanks creep me out),it eats like a mutha and i want to travel and finally have fun camping away but i swear i keep lookn at petrol tank for a hole..its guzzles so much?
Could my brilliant brothers do the conversion or best to go to the professionals?
Cant find Gas conversion links on here except for a turbo 202,mines a straight 202blue/auto/,can anyone find link that would help me please..YESSS i tried to find it warren...lol..just the one link came up for a turbo, surely thr more on how to do it?
If i have to get a Pro in Vic to do it,approx how much would it be and any recommendations of whom?
It hasnt had a tune up since the new reco carbi went inn as yet but cant see the massive diff it needs to make as i watch how fast petrol gauge goes down as drive it..shockn! :-\
Thankyou all,
Shell x

Are you running a highway diff? as that may be the reason for being such a guzzler, Gas is a good option and no you can't do it yourself, running dual fuel will give you heaps of range with a slight comporise as it isn't tuned properly for either I recomend tune it for straight gas and enjoy, if you want it to get up and go there are a few tunnable mixers available such as Gas Research Australia and if you change the cam in your engine to a gas cam you can get more power out of gas than petrol. I spent 3 years travelling around Australia in a V8 4x4 fully loaded towing a heavy tandem axle caravan and had no problems my gas system was Impco

Hey Poochi welcome back. I would not let anyone do the gas conversion unless they were licensed to do so. Like you gas is scary when it goes boom, so  make sure they have a good reputation, and no complaints against them. With gas you get one chance to do it right, and at around 2 to 3 grand to install not a cheap one.

Sounds very strange Poochi that you're chewing through so much fuel - is the engine worked? i actually thought the fuel guage on my new Beddie was broken too, but for the opposite reason! i.ve only filled it once in 4 weeks (dont drive everyday tho) and it only came off the full mark last week. Good ol' 173. Having owned and driven v8's daily for years this is unbelievable!

A bloody good tune up should sort you out before going to the expense of a conversion - i'd try that first.

Hmmm...Thanks for all the advise,
ll try the tune up on new reco carbi first then and i asked my brother what diff it is,he said its not original dif..a holden diff with higher ratio so that cant be the problem, the engine was not rebuilt but my bro pulled it apart and cleaned it. Petrfol gauge is broken,it ran out of petrol wn it showed it would!
If you bedsters that have converted to gas think its worth $3000 for a conversion then ill look into that if all else fails,i want to drive it alot, not have to think twice if i can freakn afford too,lol..CrAzY! :-\
Thanks stax for all your imput,so helpful as always... ;D :-*

Hi, $3000 for the conversion sounds a bit steep, you should get a good second hand system of flea bay for around $300, fit most of it your self and then take it to the conversion people and they should be able to finish the rest for under $600, so total $900, with your rebate it should cost you hardly anything, I have been running gas for over 15 years and on straight 6's and v8's and have had very litle problems, the new direct injection systems are just as good as running on petrol but do cost more for instlation.

cheers
Graham

Well thats what my brother suggested,do first half of job,and get the Pro's to finish it and make it all safe, and the rebate..YEAH!? ;D
Thank you Graham.

GDay Poochi sorry for your loss I lost my mum after a 13 year fight in the end i felt the same shes not suffering anymore but i miss her . anyhoo about the gas setup (im a licensed gas fitter ) the only thing a non lic person can fit without direct supervision from a lic fitter(hahaha that sounds funny ) is the mixer and the inspecting fitter will probably take it off to inspect anyway .the new kit shouldnt cost much more than 2k also it is a national requirement that the vehicle passes a roadworthy inspection after the gas is fitted .hope this helps     Cheers Merlin

Hey Shell,

I've been offline for a while too so saddened to hear your Mum. All my best to you and your brothers.

Without sounding too much like a preacher, you know I am here to talk should you need.

Shell, for you, look at going back home as a great thing. Maybe hit the comedy circuit again and cheer others up as well as yourself.

RE your gas needs, get in touch with Smithy's LPG ( www.smithyslpg.com.au (http://www.smithyslpg.com.au) ). They sponsored the conversion on my 1982 charity bash Jeep, fitting it with twin tanks underneath. They also do lots of specialist cars works and old hot rods. I think you can get a quick quote via their website. When they do the conversion, they only needed to certify the gas system they installed and provide a metal plate with date of compliance. They did not need to have a full RWC done. So you'll be safe!!!

RE your beach getaway you're planning (?!), that's why i got my bedford. I was the only one without one last year! Early March sounds great, but please please please NOT the weekends of 17th or 24th March. (Camp Quality training then my 40th!!!)

Speak soon,

Adrian.

Jeeeeeezuz now im confused,lol..maybe its different requirements in each state with this gas conversion huh,ok ill just try this Smithy bloke in Vic and take it from there?Thanku.
