There is going to have to be many stories from this trip, with Ben travelling from Vic to NSW and back in his beddy I thought i'd start the thread to make sure it's all documented.
So is Ben up there yet Marty?
+ A big thanks to Marty for holding on to that door for me with no hassles
+ A big thanks to Ben who's bringing it back for me
I have never been on a forum with such friendly helpful people
-

Warren

G'day
I hang my head in shame as I intended to gate crash the meeting while I was in Sydney at the Atomic Live Conference at Olympic Park. I was travelling with others and intended to sneak out Sunday morning but I forgot to take my Street Directory. Oh well next time.
-
hey scotty (Doofhard), ben got here ok,
lol, thanks for startin this post, haha, now u put us on the spot,.
ben said to me dont let me forget doofhards rear 1 piece door,
im going to write it everywhere so i dont forget, lol.
eddy ben said to say g/day bro,
warren ben just got lost once thanks 2 me, lol.
i thought he was somewhjere he wasnt,
he said he went left a and was seeing cows ???
i thought he had taken the left wrong left turn, :-[
so i said go back, lol, but he didnt say he was on narellan rd/ the northern rd,
otherewise i woulda said keep going, :-[
anyway he got here ok, mon arvo.
we went to the fiberglass place at 3pm mon arvo.
got al;l the material, ben spent $700 plus and me $390. i didnt need as much as ben, ive got all the tools, and most materials from previous jobs.
so we didnt get anything done mon, tue we started,
ben had to kick me a few times to get me to part with my comfotable bed ,lol, bens a slave driver and im a lasy ass, haha.
we needed to do a lot of repairs to the front spoiler, flaires, etc to get them
to the perfect condition to make moulds from.
there,s no point making moulds of items that arnt perfect as u just get imperfect products. i spent most my time on the front spoiler repairing chips, cracks and rebuilding bits that were damaged in removal.
tomorrow, (thursday the parts will be ready for the moulds to be made)
im pretty fussy, and bens fussy 2 so the finished fiberglass products will be worth the extra effort .
at least the parts made from the moulds will be good when finished.
here,s some pictures,
ben arriving.

Hi Marty all the best for Monday, lost my Father to a hart attack but never got to say good bye as it was sudden, so enjoy the time you have now and in the future after op. :)
-
Hey Big M, man its hard in these moments, let me share my experience with you, I didn't get on with my old man at all and didn't spek to him for like over 10 years, I rather hesitantly returned to NZ when he was passing away and got to spend three days with him before he passed on, we didn't talk much just sat with him during his struggle. Those three days I will forever cherish. Being able to forgive someone when they are with us leaves absolutely no regrets ...... take care of yourself bro ...... regards Eddy MAC
-
thanx Bas NZ n Eddy,
your thoughts and wishes are really apreciated.
never was real close to dad either,
but this last year with loosing mum has healed all wounds.
and brought us close.
we only get 1 family and 1 real chance at life,
everyday makes us better beings.
i believe we never stop learning and can learn from young and old.
its great to be able to teach eachother things as well.
marty
-
Thanks Marty - yes all good here. I lost my Mum a few years ago too and didn't really get on great with my Dad but we are very close now and strangly enough having my van has given us something to talk about and share in common father to daughter. Strange how a hump of metal can mean so much for so many reasons. Take care.
-
Yep getting to say goodbye and being there was the hardest thing I have ever done (when my mum died 3 years ago at 49) A little bit different because it was cancer and there was many years leading up to it but my advice to any of my friends dealing with the same sort of situation is spend as much time as you can with them.
I did spend alot of time when my Mum was close but I never knew what to say and therefor alot of time was spent silent. If I could turn back time now I wish I could just tell her more about what was going on in my life at the time. Not that it was too exciting but because I could tell she was in pain I never really knew how to act around her and i'm sure if I was just talking crap about what I did on the weekend or whatever she could of got some laughs.
I feel for you bud
-
Yes the cancer thing sucks I lost my dad at 57 to bowl cancer ,he was a country bar manager and lived hard ,we spoke very little he was tough and expected the same a big man and a big heart too. Theres not a day that goes by that I don't miss him or wish I had said more But hes in a better place now and I only ever think of the good times we shared and now I understand why he was so hard on us sometimes the discipline that we receive turns out to be the seed of love and respect we just don't realize it at the time.Im sure the time you spent with him although short as it seemed will stay with you forever, some moments cant be forgotten some smiles and the faces we learn to appreciate , (often too late), are the faces and experiences that make us who we are our parents often say how proud they are of us but in hindsight I wish I had told him how proud I was that he was my dad even if some times I thought the worst of him.now I know now he thought the best of me.
make every day count, and remember its never too late.
-
I recently turned 50, I have 3 grown up boys, 25, 22 & 21, at the party I put friendly pressure on all of my family, ( I have 6 brothers and 7 sisters) to speak about their relationship with me. My nieces and nephews also got up and spoke. This was not for an ego trip because in my family I am seem to be the talk guy, you know the one who takes the service and speaks at family and relatives funerals, the one who speaks at weddings and important birthdays, the one who when something goes wrong they ring for advice. I'm the only one who doesn't drink so I'm sober enough at gatherings to speak from the heart, so I thought it was about time that they said something be it good or bad about me, I also put pressure on my sons to speak and was totally suprised by what they said ..... seems I'm not such a bad bugger after all, they were really good speakers and the comments were suprising some things they mentioned went back years, it showed how important things that you consider to be insignificant can have a major impact on others lives.
Lesson I learnt .... this was an opportunity for those close to you to express directly to you how they feel about you (even if some of it is through their beers). This is something I never did with my parents and although I have no regrets I would have liked to have told them how I felt about them when they were not suffering. The last three days with my old man was an opportunity and a time to forgive and it is a time I will always cherish. I spent a week sleeping at the hospital in the waiting rooms when my mum was passing away and again that was important to me and something the nursing staff understood. I believe when we have fall outs with family it is still important to let them know how we feel, I asked my sisters and brothers when one of my brothers crossed them if they would go to his funeral, they said of course they would, I asked wether they would feel angry towards him, they said no. I asked them why they wouldn't tell him that while he was alive? they had no answer, just looked at me in a strange manner. Funny isn't it how our anger or pride stops us from making it right with family. Stop now ..... go to the phone and ring a family member and tell them you love them! I bet when you hang up you will feel good for doing it ;) stay well and look after yourselves
-
Nice One Eddy! ;D
-
im sorry 2 hear u lost ur mum Scoobiedoovan it leaves a scar on our hearts that never heals. lost my mum April 3rd this year . im sorry 2 hear u lost ur dad Craig, and Doofhard my sorrow to u 2 brother. loosing mums, dads brothers ,sisters, friends there is nothing worse, we loose a bit of our selves, and to anyone else thats lost or going through hard times my thoughts ,prayers and blessings are sent to thee.
dad had his triple bypass tuesday,
went ok, but his lungs collapsed,
he,s still in intensive care today.
he,s confused, cant move very much and depressed.

marty
-
Your not too shabby yourself Marty
Well as much as i'd happily be related to you, it's not the case my Dad was adopted and his "real" surname is Tonkin (only found out a year or so ago) He;s got people trying to track down the Mother now. Was a bit of a spin out when he got the informaton thus far. His Dad was a labourer already had 2 girls (this is who my Dad would love to track down) and then when Dad was born the old man split and left his Mum with 3 kids.
Wish my family owned pubs. I love my travel though, these pubs you talking about they in Ireland? Maybe a visit is in order. How bigs this sailing boat you got?
-
lol, thanx man. i wish u well with the family tree search.
yes they are in ireland and england.
love my traveling also, im a gypsy at heart and always will be.
i dont have the yacht of my dreams yet but its in the pipework.
a 50ft bilge keeled able 2 sit on beach upright, twin mast in case 1 snaps at sea in storm ( ratshit if in 1 masted yacht), capable of long distance travel,
QLD, whitsundays, etc
Bahamas, Carabean etc. anythings possible.
just need to watch out for moidern day pirates if venture over and through panama canal
we only live once, may as well enjoy it hey.
marty
