hi folks.
i could be buying a beddy in sydney if all the costs aren't too high. it's unreg and unroadworthy so i can't drive it home. bummer, as it drives well (or so i'm told). so think i must get it transported down.
does anyone have any leads on a good/cheap company to do this? i just got a quote for $620. yikes.
thanks

You can get a temperary permit and drive it.
-
that's what i want to do but i looked up the nsw mta and it said it needs a roadworthy to get one (or pink or blue slip, not sure which). it won't get one with the body the way it is. or is there another way around this?
-
maria,
is it a worthwhile van your buying?
it might be worthwhile waiting for a good registered one.
pannel work and engine work can cost the earth.
just a thought,

pink slip if its just been unreg for under 3 months, blue slip if over 3 months or on LPG gas.

i hear what you're saying. i guess i saw it and went 'that's it'. i'm getting it checked out for me, as i'm down here and it's up there. will know all the ugly details tomorrow.
it's on lpg and just out of rego. does that mean pink or blue then? blue i suppose.
-
blue, so ive been told.
good luck with it maria, hope it all goes well 4 u.
but get it passed the blue slip before parting with the cash of buying it.
marty
p.s. if your just buying it coz its LPG, i know an of LPG fitter at fits NEW LPG units for $2,100 and after the government/medicare $2,000 refund that means its just $100 for your gas conversion.
u might be better buying a good non gas 1 and getting it converted. if that 1 has any drama,s.
but if its a great van and u have your hopes set on it enjoy,:).

There is more vans in Vic than in NSW, keep looking and you will find something. A lot of effort to get an un-registered/able van back to vic. Wouldn't you rather spend the transport money on improving a van that you picked up in Vic?
If you need a hand with anything - happy to help out.
Cheers

thanks for the encouragement. i've had the one in sydney looked at and it's too much to get it done up. more than i have anyway. i would rather get one closer to home. and i will. i will!

Maria,
I understand your predicament... The one that goes "I WANT IT NOW!" It's a good and bad sittuation :)
I know you are keen to get it but you need to be patient because if you rush into something that isn't sound you could
get financially burdened with a disaster and have to sell it at a loss etc etc...
Give it some time and it will come your way. Where exactly are you located?
I will keep an eye out for you.
There are what I like to call "BEDFORD VULTURES" on this site, so being on here may not help you in getting a van.
However once you have your van you will get all the help and assistance in the world!
Getting the van is the hard thing.
What is your budget - i.e max spend? I know of a couple of vans that are going to be available for purchase in the next
couple of months, good vans just depends on how much you want to spend. PM me with details as to what you are after?
Cheers
Jock

G'day
I am no vulture ark, ark. Just been playing with CFs for a looong time.
I bought a CF food van interstate on the cheap on ebay. I had a cunning plan for it.
It cost thousands to finally get it to a transport depot in Dubbo.
Before I could arrange to get it home some scumbag took all the cooking gear out of it.
Interstate transport is only to be considered for a worthy van and you will need to keep an eye on it.

just to let anyone know who is interested in transport, found a company called Autotrans who is carrying the van for $450. would be $350 if it was depot to depot, or $550 door to door. something like that. think the sydney depot is in bankstown, and the melb one is in laverton.
