Hi, any tips/tricks/advice for this transplant would be much appreciated. I have a Jumbo which has recently had its Holden 308 & trans removed. I have an apparently good 308 & trans sitting in a 84 Commodore. Im hoping to do this asap. If u havent already seen post in"motor change" topic about lifting van with 2 high lift jacks either side, please check it out & let me know what u think. Otherwise might have to get a lifting frame welded up.

when I pulled the standard motor out of my standard van, I just used a engine hoist but lifted the van up from the panel under the grill.
Unbolt the front suspension and gearbox mount (support box mount with trolley jack, skate board or whatever), lift the body up and wheel it out.
I put the ld28 in the same way

mate you have to get hq engine mounts because the commodore ones make the motor sit too far foward.i know i found out the hard way lol.

Last time I removed an engine from a Beddy I hired a lifting frame with chain block. was cheap and easy. Just have to make sure that you can lift the vans front high enough to roll front out. Haven't looked at the high jack idea, but sounds scary :-\
I'm thinking that you'd need a little more control when dropping the body back down onto the front end than what you'd get from jacks. But hey there are probably a heap a people that could tell me otherwise.

surely you must know someone with a block and tackle or a engine crane?? if not a block and tackle arnt too expensive.. as long as you have something to lift it from.. engine crane works really well for me thou.. new 300 bucks in aus.. i boght a second hand one for 40 bucks the other day.
