organising some new rotors for my HQ front and my stub seems to be smaller than the 'small' stub:
on vernier:
inner diameter 31.75mm bearing LM67048
outer diameter 19.09mm bearing LM11949
I'm concerned that someone may have modified the spindle,
here is a pic, can anyone shed some light on this:

stay posted Hammondo, I have to play "stub axles" next week, willshoot and measure two set for you, meanwhile search for Matte post on bearing numbers re HQ disc conversions. guessing , under technical info in forum. Dan

Mate, looking at that visually, it has been machined.
I have 3 different types of stubs in my posession currently, the large type, small type, and a set which have been machined.
All 3 sets look different to that set, however they look the most like my machined set (machined differently)
I have heard varying reports as to the strength and reliability of a set of stubs which have been machined. Mine have been on my van for over 30 years without issue to date (touch wood). However personally have just purchased smaller stubs for peace of mind.
The bearing numbers you listed will suit those machined stubs fine

yep they are different to ever stub axel ive ever seen.. im positive theyve been machined..

Based on the fact they're using an HQ bearing for the outer, they HAVE to have been machined ;)

Thanks guys, am I crazy to maintain this system long term? if 3/4" is strong enough on a HQ is it also on a bedford?
or
does anyone want to sell me so late type spindles?
any help much appreciated
cheers

Search the disc brakes threads for lots of good information and some heated debate.

They look like they are definetly machined as on a normal stub, the taper will transition smoothly from the small dia to the large one, not step like that.

Could you please clean the stub axle and take another photo, would like to see what it looks like for further reference, if you replace these stubs, please do not throw away as I am interested in them and will pay freight to 6208 WA. Could you asist in getting a freight cost for me and if it is not to expensive ( let me know total cost ) send them to me
cheers Rogerfied

no worries mate, just trying to find out a bit more about the 'early stub/HQ rotor/ford bearing' system that I have seen mentioned. as soon as I have new stubs in there you are welcome to them.
don't suppose you have any stubs?
