Well when my old XD ute got put off the road by the cops i realized i needed another ute of some sort because im always carting something around or picking up mulch for my garden. I happened one day to see my bedford truck advertised in the Quokka. I thought to myself yeah! :D That just might be alright. I took it for a drive and man what a pig !!! :o spluttering and farting rattled and shook i got back and thought geez should i ? :-\ I offered him $400.oo and he took it Oh CRAP :o Paid the money and took it home the next day.Spent a weekend and got her running right and have never regretted it at all. ;D ;D ;D

as a kid, the neighbour across the road had a purple an cream one with sliding doors, an would give us a lift to school in it when raining, so my love of beddys stemmed from that. called in on dave, my daughters, sisters dad (yes we have a big n happy extended family) one day a couple of years ago an he had "ol futile" sitting in his driveway, was his next door neighbours who had moved to queensland an left it for dave to sell for him, well it was also my birthday that day, "how much" i asked?? $900 he replied, just so happened a had $900 in my pocket so laid the bucks down an treated myself to a birthday pressie ,registered it online an drove it home that day, mrs skippy was not impressed at the time, (so ?? who cares??) but love has blossomed between the two now, "ol futile" is well an truly a part of this family, an has not to date ever let me down..... touchwood .. ;) ;)

Craig made me do it........

as i said to graham ..i caught the CF bedford virus way back when i was young n free traveling round OZ , such a carefree life back then ;) ...had about 6 bedfords n about 5 transits in my days...got this one to do an organic vege run to sydney markets after i sold my last LWB tranny.... and finally worn Ray down to buy me a beford and (WE) restore it ;D ..found a rust free bargin on ebay yeah !!!
since were always carting stuff round..love how u can set up a bed in the back...home away from home... took one up to weipa nrth QLD did well over 700km of corrigations...
ahh there are plenty of reasons why i have bought many bedfords.
thanx for asking

My late father...Jack...left it to me in his will...I feel close to him when I'm in it
As he loved to tinker and modify it and did a lot of miles up the top end to cook town,
Cairns, Kunnunura and out the back of beyond, survived flooding during TC Larry
Restored it and drove all the way back to The Atherton tablelands when he died of
A sudden heart attack doing what he loved best...we have the Bedford image imorialised
On his gravestone with the words....still traveling ...now I'm infected with the beddie bug
Hope to do the big lap around the country in her if I can...& if I can talk the misses in
Coming with me on a great adventure. :-\

Well for me, I just loved Beddys since I was a little boy. They just look and feel like nothing else on wheels. Stand out and you can see coming a mile away. Just pure love I guess. I love working on my Beddys

Because they wouldn't let me join the van club.
I was in the van scene in my early teens, always going to van runs and drinking way to much (as you do), but could only be a social member, something about rules ... So one day I was driving home (must of been around 15) and spotted this CF shell sitting at the wreckers yard, went in and asked what they were doing with it, it was to go to the scrap yard as everything was stripped off it. I said I want it, they said no, I pulled some money out, they said ok. And they even delivered it for me (on a forkhoist) as I only lived 2 blocks away.
I had helped work on a few custom vans before this so had some ideas of what I wanted. At age 16 i did my first roof chop on a CF Bedford, worked and paid off a 350 chev, with use of an arc welder i managed to make some side skirts and other custom bits and got some fibreglass flares and spoiler. Built the whole van myself.
Anyways, long story short they let me join the van club.
Sadly that van never got on the road, it was all preped for paint in the garage and the drains at the back of the section (backed onto a reserve) flooded and the whole van was under water for 2 days. I didn't know about drain holes back then ie the side skirts, so the van filled up with mud and crap, you know the ribs on the bedford floor, well they were covered. I had made up a ply wood interior including U shaped seat with table that dropped to become a bed. The whole van stunk.
Am now 42 and recently joined another van club - no questions asked :D

Same as Ben.. I needed something to haul band gear with.. Got my first Bedford, with 350 Chev for 5 grand, (with extra van).
Traded the extra van to Rod, of Rod's Bedfords Bits (a very helpful man). Pic of my first van below:

Sold it to tour Europe in an old show van from the 80's. On returning to Australia, bought another, also a V8.
