Title: Replacement Door Handles - what to use?

My door locks are not working properly, and I was wondering what type of Door handles and locking mechanisim people have used.

Some one had posted some where some Ford ones that would fit, but for the life of me I cant find that post.

So ideas please, like keyed vs keyless, types of handles and vehichles they come from etc.

i recon keyless is great! not too expensive. could even be cheaper than matching door handles.. more secure.. but. if your battery goes flat your stuffed!!! sure you could figure something out thou. like an access to battery compartment from underneath so you can hook up another battery just to get doors open.

Yeah Ben I agree with you, keyless all round, and power windows on the front doors.

A small gell cell battery (out of a security alarm) could be used as backup for the door openers.


Im just looking for idea's on the handles, holden, ford, toyota etc.

I once saw a car that used a welsh plug as a door handle - just a round button on the door  :D

Come on who posted the ford door handle pictures ?

have a look at mystic fantasy.. it has flush door handles..

yeh nah im concerned if your van's battery goes flat hey for some reason., but i guess you got to be concerned with the button's battery on your keyring also hey!!

Many moons ago I did up a bedford and used Morris Marina door handles, nice flush chrome things. making the linkages was a bit of fun though

G'day

I like handles you can grab onto, and use as tie off points for roping things on the roof.

The problem with the Bedford door mechanism is that it is a push in to release where other handles move in a different direction.

i have not pulled the handle apart yet but will soon cause i want my van to be really really secure so no one can get in..

i bought remote central locking the other day, going to get rid of the locking knobs.. then hook up the electric mechanism..


i asume it will still be pretty easy to hook some wire around the locking mechanism inside the door and get it to all pop up together.. anyone have any ideas how i can make this harder to do?

i will weld up the holes where the lock knobs are at the moment..
