Is this site slow for anybody else?
I just took me 4 minutes to log in and 2 minutes for this page to load.
I can also view some pics but not others.
At the moment I have stopped looking on here because it is so slow.
This is the only site I have problems with.
>:( ??? >:( ??? :(
-
do you view it with explorer or firefox/mozilla- firefox mozilla is way better for it.
-
I cant understand why it would be going slow for you. Using Firefox will most probably sort out the problem viewing pictures.
What ISP are you using? The slowness could be a dns issue.
-
its super fast for me. i use firefox half the time.
when i use explorer the pics dont work.
-
fast for me..
-
yeah its slow for me 2, i rang up my ISP and told them how slow and crappy their service was and now its 4 times as slow, lol bloody TSN at pt maquarie, im changing to bigpond soon.

As long as it isn't just this site. That's all that matters :)
-
i just signed up for bigpond wireless, roam, 3gig, 3.0 to 7.2meg, so speed shouldnt be a problem anymore and can travel anywhere with broardband service now. going to be doing a bit of traveling.

Access to the buga forums no matter where you are. Now that's dedication :P

This is the only site I have probs with. Can anybody help me? I have laptop in for service so I know its not that.
This morning I pressed log in waited, made coffee, made some labels for storage and was then logged in.
Pressed forum button only took 1/2 minute to load. Not too bad.
Pressed site feedback. Took 2 minutes to load.
Pressed to open this topic. Took 3 minutes to load.
Pressed reply. Took 2 minutes to load.
I love this forum and am very keen to stay on here.
Has anyone got any suggestions to my predicament.
Fast Lane used to do this to me aswell but is ok now with no adjustments. :(
I should also add that I am with Telstra broadband on high speed adsl.

Tried Mozilla no better.

Thats very interesting.
What happens if you browse http://www.thebedford.roaringfrog.com/
Go to the galley and browse around and see it it is slow too.
-
Roars through roaring frog.
No problems there.
-
It must be a dns issue then because roaringfrog is on the same server as this site.
Do you know how to manually set the dns that you use?
-
ok
I have played around with the site.
I can fly through evrything except forum.
I can view all of the pics in galleries but only some in the forums
Not sure about dns. Would you have have settings that would help???
-
Thats weird, I'll have to think about that for a bit. Although it could still be a dns issue.
I'm not sure how you have your computer/modem setup but it could be worth specifying a non telstra dns.
-
Shane,
Thanks for your help yesterday.
Still slow. Still don't know whats wrong.
I'll just have to put up with it.
To start with everything was fine. It's just the last week it has started.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Cheers again
-
I had issues with it earlier today, was "slow" a lot slower than normal.
Seems OK now
Warren
-
mine`s come to a grinding halt and i have to double click all the buttons . it`s only this site , taken 10 minutes to get here email me if you know how to fix it cause takes too long to get here to check replies
-
Is it still doing it Strez.
If not what did you do?
-
What ISP are you using strez?
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
IT'S FAST AGAIN!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
Just checking it wasn't a fluke!!
Did anybody change anything or did the gremlins leave?
-
Nothing was changed.
-
Gremlins gone then ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :) :) :) :) :)
-
ISP ? is that internet service provider if it is it`s telstra . still only this site that is extremely slow every thing else is way fast . have recently upgraded my flash player could this be the problem ?
-
I doubt very much that flash has anything to do with it.
I would put money on Telstra being the problem. That name seems to pop up every time people have problems connecting to a domain that is registered with netregistry.
The problem seems to be a dns issue so changing your dns would most probably fix the problem.
-
I did nothing and it's faster than it ever was now.
Don't know what it was. Nothing upgraded, nothing changed, nothing new (except for pages loading in 2 seconds instead of 2 minutes).
Still having a problem with photos in certain posts though.

Refresh my memory, what ISP and browser are you using?
-
I have been having problems with getting onto the site, nothing to wait anything up to about 10minutes then another 5 minutes to log on, same looking through the different topics. I am with telstra. Then other times like now 10 or 20 secs and its on fire. If its on a go slow I cancel and try again later if not get on the next day, seems to be fine then. Nothing different, nothing changed or added to computor. Just has its days.
Julian.
-
I might have to look at writing an instruction for people to manually specify a different DNS. Telstra is rubbish.
-
Shane,
I am with Telstra ADSL Broadband, Using Internet Explorer on Windows Vista Ultimate.
Still no problems now.
#@$%^ knows what was doing it.
-
turned off the power to modem and wireless link turned it back on and what do you know back up to speed . don`t know if thats what fixed it but at least its working :) :) :) :)
-
That makes sense.
-
im having intermittant problems with the site,
just a minuite ago i was in the thread where i posted the 2 pictures of the black
beddy Dynasty and the first picture was there but not the second,
so i hit refresh and then the second picture was there, whats going on?
im thinking its my ISP, internet service provider, TSN.cc
this kinda stuff better not happen when i change over to 3 gig, 7.2 speed, roam with
telstra, otherwise i will be terminating the contract straight away.
"TELSTRA." u copy that telstra?. lol.

This does make sense. I think I did reboot my modem the other day. Will have to try again if it slows again.

yeah, but why should we have to turn the modems off and on, why does this help?
for the money we pay we shouldnt have to do this shoot.
im currently with TSN Internet at pt maquarie, i pay $40 per month, get 2 gig, at 256 speed, i have problems downloading files etc, when pages load half the pictures dont load, on this site, boatpoint.com, a fishing site, and a few other ones, this p@$&* me off to the max!
i just opened a 3 year contract with telstra for $44.97 per month for the first year, them $90 per month for the remaining 2 years.
for this im supposed to get 3 gig, of monthly downloads, at 3.000 to 7.200 speed, with a free flashdrive sized modem that plugs into the USB port, this small modem i can take anywhere that mobile phones get coverage, and can plug it into any computer i like. (this is what Telstra recon anyway).
i went with this contract coz im sick of the shoot im going through at the moment and i want to be able to take a $4,000 laptop anywhere, in my van or the yacht(when i get it) at sea, and have lightning speed broardband anywhere.
but this quality broardband will remain to be seen to be believed.
if its not like what the telstra rep said i will be major p*@%$ off and tell em to jam it right up their u know where.
coz in todays day and age there seems to be very little value for money with anything, TV,s , DVD,s, CD players etc, etc, ,that last 3 years or less.
we live in a throw away society today. even cars etc are just about rat shoot after about 4 years or less, thats why i like the old Bedfords i can fix anything on mine my self, do all my own services, the parts are interchangable with just about anything.
shoot ive nearly written an essay, better leave it there. but anyway it will remain to be seen if this so called ants pants broardband is all they say it is.

Today this forum slowed down on me again. >:(Last time I was in I didn't log out. I reset my modem and it's back to normal again. ;DThis is a bit of info for anyone it happens to if they are with Bigpond ADSL Broadband. Don't know if it will work with any others, but it's worth a try if it all slows down.
-
My connection speeds vary, sometime its quick as other times it's slow to load up the home page and then changing pages. Time of day does affect the speed. I'l talk in AEST times here. Around 8.30am - 9.30am slow then again at 12.00 - 2.00pm and again from 4.00 - 6.00pm. These are log in and lunch time for businesses and school kids online. As BUGA is hosted in the US we use the same pipeline as all the business and school kids use. We have school holidays coming up so expect the internet to be sloooow.
