there must be a way of doing it??
any ideas...

put it this way there is no cheap way of lowering your van that will be legal./advisable
ben
-
stub axles upside down? hahah
-
yeh swap the wishbones too lol
-
great help people..
-
you can take both your front and rear springs out and have them reset at any spring works I believe there is a good one on railway prade in bayswater
that will give you 2"on the rear and 1 on the front I think thats where danno had his done.
-
thanks
back is done front lowered with new springs but want lower....
-
try tubular suspensions, NSW, spoke to him a while back, said he could help and was pretty interested too...... I never got back to him but do give him a try, as i said if he can set up a kit , or re manufacture wish bones he would sell a shite load.Dano http://www.tubularsuspensionsystems.com/ (http://www.tubularsuspensionsystems.com/)looks like there in Sydney, this could be a winner.
Any one want to donate a front end to these guys????
-
sent email today
-
i am happy to donate a front end.. let me know where to freight it.

good man ;D

Hey Dano, any chance you can find your last email to these guys and revive the conversation? The reason I ask is that they may be willing to go out on a limb and attempt a bit of an engineering feat by adapting the bedford control arm sizes/specs to house a holden HQ/Z/WB stub axle, which would then enable an easy conversion to disk brake front ends, and big brake upgrades.
If the cost of these is similar between that of a CRS brake kit, it would enable an option for bedford owners.
You will need to make the company aware that the height of the stub axle is different so the angle throughout the range of travel will need to be sorted out to match that of a standard stub axle. I havent spoken to my uncle about this yet, tho from memory he had to move the lower balljoint inwards(?) a bit. When he did it, he had perfect travel. The downside is he did it on a Bedford when they were brand new ;)
If Ben does not have a holden stub axle to donate along with a bedford front end(I appreciate your willing ways!) then i should be able to find a pair of stubs kicking around.
The work on this tubular suspension mob looks quite good quality, and the fact it is advertised as coming with an engineering cert is a good thing. I think we are best off designing a package to send off to a number of companies however to find the best price and quality.

i have a set of holden stub axels i could throw in too if you guys do the organising:)

I'd love to drop a beddy real low, did anyone follow up on this, I see so many custom kombis near where i work, they've got their vans all sorted.
-
I'm sure many of us would like to get our Beddies really low. That's what mine needs.
To achieve this look would be good. 8)
-
the matt red bedford was pretty and low, how did he do it??
-
I also want to lower mine in the future,
You can change the rear axle to sit over the springs, that should get you a nice height. You might need to do a C notch if you want to get it even lower.
The front end is another story.. drop axles are the way to go or a custom front suspension with custom wish-bones. You want to keep the springs with the full length for a better ride.
-
The only real way to drop the front is to C-notch the rails (add a chassis), just upping the bottom to the top gives you 4 inches (100mm) and then you can do spindles and springs on top of that.
Pros: looks really good and uses standard suspension parts
Cons: you can no longer 'sit' in your seat, it's like trying to drive a mini while being over 6ft tall. You have to modify the steering column length (or replace to more modern but make sure it's tilt - you'll be using it a lot). you have to get used to climbing into your van, can't just walk in or slide in like standard vans. Depending on the size wheels you use on the front you may have to cut out the wheel arches and door step.
End of the day you have to weigh up practical verses looking good - can't have both

Nice set of flares and some chunky rubber will give the illusion at a fraction of the cost!

Available shortly a bolt on kit that will alow the following
Commodore wheel pattern, could also offer Ford or HQ.
Commodore Twin piston Brakes with Vented disks
Able to retain most 14 inch Rims depending on rim off set
Kit will also Lower front end 35mm using original springs, shocks etc and will not alter steering geometry or alignment.
Will post more info as I get it but machining is complete but not yet available as finalising with Engineer.
Please reply if interested as machining expencive so the more interest the cheaper the product.
cheers Rogerfied

Hi ya Rodge....What model commy? im guessing vx or vz?? :)
-
Would using an air-bagged suspension be another way to go without needing to channel out the front so much?
-
air bags wont work, well will on the back but will mess up the geometry and bump steer up front and could be an accident waiting to happen, a serious one
-
There is one CF that has airbags, the Primo CF,
from what I have seen online, some modification was done but it doesn't drop to the ground completely.
That's about as low as it goes in the photo -
-
That's just about as low as I would like anyway,
but an airbag system is too expensive for me right now...
-
There is a write up with pics somewhere on how they did the primo van
The guy who won it couldn't sell it, tried for months and months (think it was 30 down to 13k), in the end i think he gave up as they was no interest

I think it's being use for promotion, I seen some photos on facebook..
-
found some vids of it on utube
PRIMO at BW Camping Festival "Here comes the PRIMO Milkman" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkFbKq1PIeQ#ws)
Primobile (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIRdN91yyYQ#ws)
looks like it drives ok... need more info on the setup
-
how much will the kits be????
-
Sorry for late reply, have been working away, still no confirmed price as more testing to be done, will supply cost, fitting instuctions and photos soon as I can.
Disks and calipers are off a VT/VY Commodore and will still fit in 14" rims depending on offset, my 14" x 8" jellybeans fit fine, this can also be upgraded to the larger VZ disks and calipers but would require minimum 16" wheels. Front will also lower front of vehicle 35mm max. with no mods except to bolt these parts on. Will also be able to supply same equipment with standard ride height if required. Wheel stud change from Commodore (standard) to HQ or Ford will also be available
cheers

big call but does anybody know if this went anywhere, did these kits Rogerfied was working on ever happen?
thanks
