I'm thinking of dropping a small block chev in the green mamba.... do you think I would need to make a lot of changes to the diff, gear box etc??
at the moment she has a 186 with a 3 speed auto. I know that diff is irrepressible. HELP ME OH WISE ONES!

Hmm.. the answer is.. yes.
-
easiest way forward is either keep green mamba and buy a beddie with the conversion already done and swap the running gear over or find a tray with the conversion already done .... starting a conversion from scratch is a lot of work .... good luck with either way ;D

1- ask yourself what you want for your application.
2- if its a standard diff throw it away anyway
3- dont bother with the v8 unless your going the disc break front.
4- if your looking for better power , fuel economy for a worker then in my opinion you cant go past 253 auto 9inch.
although you will loose some floor space against the chev. (the v int the chev block is narrower)
5- you wanna go fast go 350 a 327 by the time youv spent the $$$ on a 327 youll wish youd gone cause now your 327 is as good as a350?
6- whats your budget?
The easiest way is to buy a runner as a donor car and swap every thing. however if you have the $$$ then a crate motor combo would be sweet.
7- there are often befords that come along at reasonable prices already converted but are unlicensed or projects not finished I just sold 1 with 253 auto 9inch for 2k and it had 4 wheel disc hotwires ect.

G'day
I have had both a 327 and a 350.
If you have a 327 go for it. It is not quite as "brutal" but it revs a bit better and goes hard.
