haven't heard of any one needing an engineering certificate hear in the west but its been a long time since I put one over , ring them or if your ok with it mechanically take it in and run it over the pits
what size engine is in it ? dose it have disc breaks on it

I think the main issue with not having an engineers certificate is it may invalidate your insurance.
I tried to get one for my non-standard front seats, but I struggled to find anyone interested.
I believe the engineer has to be registered with DVLC. The only place I found that did eng certificates someone on this site recommended me (on the old website) he did up japanese cars, and was not really interested but said he would at the right price and in his timeframe. He was out on Welshpool Road from memory near Kewdale Rd intersection, it wasnt advertised just a shopfront with windows blocked out.
I got some engineers at work to advise specs for the seat attachments, just didnt get any paperwork (and in any case I need to change the seat mounts)
Not much help but if you find one ask if he does seats....

Ialk to Paul Walsh from the Mandurah Rod & Custom Club, he is tied up with Street Rod & Custom Bike Rego, if he doesn't know then he will know who does

I think the main issue which I would be concerned about is if the van was involved in a significant accident and it was not engineer approved, you would be up sh*t creek so to speak. Try convincing the judge that you thought it was ok when you are brought before him/her. Or perhaps the family of the person who was injured/killed as a consequence of an illegally modified vehicle. I've driven many unengineered vans in the past and wouldnt touch one now or risk the consequences. Too much to lose if something goes wrong.
Spend the money and do it right. Yes it does seem stupid to have to worry about many mods but the rules are there to ensure the safety of all road users, not just the owner of the van.

They can also unroadworthy it and make it go home on a trailor
