Marty - thank you so much for your help in getting my van going again.
For all members I am going to tell the tale of when Marty came to the rescue (at 1.30am in the morning).
It was a regular week night trawling BUGA and posting the issues that I had with my van.
After a quick response from Marty and a quick phone conversation it was decided that he would
come with a couple of starter motors in hand and get my van running.
1.30 am Marty arrived and we worked on the van until 5.30am.
As the 202 had extractors we had to take them off to get to the starter motor - painful exercise.
We replaced the old starter motor with a spare that Marty had and voila the van was fixed.
The sheer dedication and willingness of Marty - I don't think it can be measured!!!!
All I can say is that I owe him and if he ever needs anything I'll be there.
After my van troubles of late I had to ring the guy that I bought the van off and ask him a few questions....
I spoke to him today and he is a nice fellow, owned his first Bedford in 1979 and has done alot with Bedfords
over the years... I found out some VERY GOOD NEWS.
1. My motor 202 has the enlarged head w/. larger valves (basically the XU-1 head).
2. My motor been setup for gas with ACL bearings, Chromoly Rings etc
My diff has been a worry as it is very tall - hence why I thought that it was an original Bedford diff but alass... It is not!
3. My diff is a professionally converted Bedford diff that was converted by Diff Trans Spares in Sydney at a cost of $3,800.00.
It has a Borg Warner 3.89 centre which is still very tall but easy to change the centre.
My highway drama's will soon be gone!
I knew nothing of Bedfords before I bought mine and after being on this site I have learnt a lot.
After calling the guy I bought my van off I am quite happy with my purchase now!
I have asked him to get on the site but he is computer-illiterate and does not have broadband.
I will not give up on him because we could all do with his 29 years of Bedford experience!
Thanks to BUGA, Thanks to Marty and thanks to you all - what a great on-line community we have going here!
Not many other forums could rival ours, at the end of the day I scratch my head and wonder how we are all so 'into' our vans...
It's somewhat hard to comprehend - my mates all look at me and laugh but I know if they ever own/owned a Beddy they would feel the
same, and if they didn't they shouldn't have ever owned it in the first place!
Long live BUGA and long live the CF Bedford!

the ANZAC spirit lives on .... I was so inspired and impressed when I read of the work of Craig and Johnno in the west and now we are informed of the same fantastic mateship on this side of the island, as I have mentioned before I work in emergency services and everyday see a lot of the unfortunate side of life and stories like this lift my spirits no end ....... only one question ummm .... don' t you guys sleep? :D
-
yeah Craig and Johnno did an amaising job, they are truely gentlemen, we beddy family need to stick together, we are a rare breed. im proud to be in the family.
it was a pleasure helping you jock, and a great way to meet a fellow beddy brother.
im glad we didnt make too much noise for the neighbours, wow the view from your former flat was amaising.
a big thankyou to my navig8tr for getting me there and home without any drama, except when it was comming up to a speed camera, it scared the s#*t outa me.
i woulda got lost without it, and been an hour later gettin there to help Jock, the best $250 ive ever spent, i bought 1 for my sister,s birthday as well, she loves it. i got home at 6am and slept till 4pm lol. that reminds me gotta change the dirt in my coffin this month, lol, just kiddin,

hey Jock, it was a broken frets, lol, throwout fork that was causing the ZZZzzzzz ing, the starter cog was creeping foward to run on the flywheel intermittantly. while u were driving, and the terminals of the solinoid had welded themselves together, heres the pics i took today, its rebuildable, i might do it tomorow for something to do as the brushes are ok, edit, lol actually i might not bother as 6cyl starters are a dime a dozen, haha. i might cut the ply for the floor of my boat instead.
