Hey Guys, footage coming out of NZ, city looks like a bomb was dropped onto the city, it looks a mess. Just seconds ago a report of a large number of fatals, another sad day of mother nature, this really does have to be the worst year for disasters.  If any of our beddy mates are caught up in this latest turmoil, our thoughts are with you and your families.

the 7.1 quake that hit Christchurch in September caused damage but no deaths, this 6.3 one was only 5k down and 65 dead so far, they fear it may double

thoughts are with the folks down that way

Just before this happened my mate in Carnarvon sent me some pic's of the dam he has had to build around his house with his bobcat to keep the water out, what's the world up to?

I was on holiday in Christchurch on Boxing Day when the last after shocks hit, feeling the walls and grounds shake in our hotel. This one is significantly worse. Christchurch is such a beautiful city with very warm, friendly and genuine people. I see why we aussies call you our neighbours and our family. Our thoughts are with you all in New Zealandand with your recovery. Adrian.

A Q. for the kiwi guys, where do they hold the V8 supercar races in NZ, is it near the quake zone or a different part of the country.

I was watching the disaster live yesterday as it unfolded, and i saw something that impressed me, the TV3 cameras were at a site were a building was dust, and on top of the rubble was this maorie guy, he was picking up sandstone blocks at least 200kgs in weight and tossing them aside like matchsticks, he had to be working on adrenelin, but seeing him pick these massive blocks up and tossing them on his own was something to see, you could not help but get emotional. I hope they find him and reward him when all this is said and done.

Hi all,

I txt'd Jeff (CFJeff) last night but have yet to hear anything back. He's in Christchurch and lives just outside the city centre area so I hope all is OK with hime and the family. If I don't hear from him by tonight I'll see if I can raise him by phone.

Will keep you posted.
Garry.

Hi guys,  what a mess the the garden City of Christchurch is, the central city is devasted, and some areas harder hit than others, in the surronding area of the part of christchurch i live roads are swamped with water/sewerage and silt, some areas are over a metre deep in water, houses are flooded.  the shake was that violent that it there everything in our kitchen cupboards flew out onto the floor as i was standing there, obliterating everything that was glass or ceramic. My Bedford were she was parked moved six inches backward and is now parked on a funny angle. it felt 10 times worse than the 7.1 we had in september.

qouting from Jeff(CFjeff) - "we all ok here, alison julie and gemma all fine, shaken and stirred. House broken, liquifaction all through garage and drive and section. Liquifaction, its a bugger to get rid of sticks to everything. Inside of house a real mess. Beddy lost a headlight and sourround, panelvan scratched and battered, commodore has lots more things land on it again, bugger. However we all still alive and thats all that matters"

For Bedfordcrazy- the V8's are held in Hamilton in the North Island so luckily its in a different part of the country

Eddy, I'm not speaking for everyone, but as your average buga member I take no offence to your comments. What I love admire about this club is everyone is genuine, generous and have heartfelt compassion. I gain a greater understanding of your honest pain in your message as you feel helpless as you can't get to your family in NZ. Mate, no words I have will make you feel better, but please don't think you are upsetting Buga members with what you are dealing with now. Hoping the best for you and your family. Adrian.

no, venting is ok by me I figured that's what you were doing, and I can attest to your frustrations having loved ones missing is horrible.
I'm sure you'd be a great help epically with all your experience but sometimes being to close to the people involved can also as you know lead to
desperate measures, even though they are applied in good faith. Take heart , your brothers are of stout breed so to are your brothers here and we are all praying for you and yours.

Yep as scott said we're all ok, just shaken and stirred, much damage to house and property, bit of damage to vehicles again, house trashed inside lots of broken glass. But at least we are all alive and breathing, and there are many more in our city a lot worse off than us. Will be a long road to rebuilding but we will all get there. Adrian wish I'd known you were here on boxing day would've been cool to meet up, maybe next time ehh?

Thank you all for you kind wishes.

Cheers Jeff

Kia Ora buga crew, thank you sincerley for your comments. I have accepted that I will not be in the first contingent from Melbourne to ChCh, maybe it was for the better, I will be on the second contingent should the need arise. My family and I appreciate your prayers and thoughts. I have good news the brothers have been found !!! they were in the city centre when the quake struck and although battered and brusied themselves spent the day and long into the night pulling others from the rubble, they couldn't ring or let anyone know at their homes so spent the night helping where they could, cthe second day they stayed on in town pulling rubble out from buildings looking for people, today I heard they finally walked home and have set up an open house for neighbours, still no water, no sewer, no power but strong in spirit. They are not going to hospital as it will drain the resources. A huge burden has been lifted from our shoulders, our thoughts are still with the many who are yet to find their loved ones. The maori boy that was on tv lifting the large concrete blocks off the car and pulling out the girl was my cuzzie, my spirit is lifted but our thoughts are with those less fortunate than us. I hope to get called up to get across to help. kia kaha te whanau and prayers for those still waiting
