My first thoughts were frenched antenna, but its hard to say, in the second picture it looks like the inside of the driver side door jam and the second pipe throws it all out.
BUGA'd if I know.

Yea, Jeffs van is one of those vans you need to take a second look at, has a lot of work done on it, but in such a way, it dosen't look over done or to ratical.

Gidday George yep its a frenched in cb areial. Was pondering how to make a cb aerial look good on a cf, cos lets face it most cb aerial mounts look tacky, slapped on or just plain ugly (in a custom sense). So while my mate Wayne was over from the coast for the weekend to weld on the new rear roll pan and frenched in license plate box, I asked him if it was possible to weld in a piece of tube in the LH B pillar to partially fill the hole left by the now removed ugly mains socket. I asked if it could be half in (frenched) and half out, he said he had a better idea, "tapered". I didnt understand what he meant the way he described it but he said if I didnt like it then we could still do it the way I suggested. So I thought what the hell, later that night half pissed we had the tube welded in then Wayne drew the cut line on the tube and then I got it. So thats the story of how my cb aerial became so, this is just one of the quirks about my van.
Don't worry George, you are not the first to be confused by the photos, I have watched many people at shows look at the photos then start to look around the van for it, some find it, some don't and some ask.
I am humbled by all your kind appreciative comments about my van, makes it all more worthwhile building it, not only for me and my family but also for all you beddy fans, thanks. Oh and I've just uploaded some pics of the aerial finished for you george, in my posts album because I cant remember how to add pics to posts.
Cheers Jeff

Thanks for that jeff, it had me pulling my hair out for almost a year, then i said stuff it, and i put it out on here to try and solve it. You are right, i have not seen a cb antennae done like that b4, good one. As for the rest of the van, well you have my favorite blue, love it. You have just the right amount of custom on it, and the white lettering on the tyres with the blue paint is just right. The truck mirrors you had were to my taste, but again what you have now is just awesome.

Yeah decided to get rid of the west coasters as they created a big blind spot, almost ran over cyclists at t intersections on many occasions. And the screw holes in the doors kept slogging out and was having to put in larger and larger diametre screws. In the end made up screw plates to fit inside the doors to screw to, however was difficult to do up on your own.

Hey Jeff, you going to be at the van nats?
-
yep busy sure am, I hear you might be as well, looking foward to meeting you in person if you are. 2 of us beddy lovers are making the 3 day road trip up from chch, hope to catch up with many vanners on the way as usual, maybe even crash the night and party a little, or a lot? I'm bringing mine up and Barry is bringing his and his family. So thats 2 south island beddies at the nats. Talking to Garry the other night sounds like its going to be a good weekend. Oh and of course there is fact that I have to be there as the association president, but I wouldn't miss the nats anyway haven't missed one in 13 years.
Cheers Jeff

cool, get to meet you and perve at your van - bonus.
I'm booked and paid for, will only be towing the custom van down this year (isn't legal yet) but wont be finished, at the moment am just doing the body, the bolt on panels like doors, spoiler etc may not be done as I might run out of time, but will be all in primer.
I'm quite excited, I've been to van runs in my early years (as co pilot) but never had a van at one. should be a great weekend.
