Title: brakes

Hey guys, sorry its been so long for being on here

I have a problem with my brakes on the Easyroller. It has been in the panel shop for a long time now, the other week i put my foot on the brakes and it went "pop" and my foot went straight to the floor, has any one any idea on what would of happened, any help would be appreciated. thanks.

standard bedford or modified  ???

did they go down fast or slow..

check your hubs for brake fluid could be a slave gone..

Also check your hoses and make sure one did'nt go pop and split. Awesome looking van.

Sounds like a seal or brake line - let the leaking fluid be your guide...

Hi James,  If you can't see any obvious brake fluid leaks, it could be the rubber cup or cups in the master cylinder, (I had a HQ master cylinder)and you wont see any brake fluid leaks.  I had one go on the beddie, foot went almost to the floor and brakes only working on one set wheels. pumping the peddle didn't really help either. not good when going down the hill just out of Dalesford.

all good advice so far.

if you cant see fluid, try clamping different brake hoses (different wheels) to eliminate which brake has the issue. then pull apart from there. if nothing danything clamp all and that will tell you if its the mastercylinder

I had a similar problem while staying over night in wellington on my way to the nats in palmy 2001. Got up the next morning and the pedal went straight to the floor. Problem was the master cylinder, mine being a 76 was one of the 2 years they fitted the round resevior Lockheed brand master cylinder (these were also fitted to triumphs). Problem is wth these is thay have a crappy link pin arrangement the links the 2 pistons in the cylinder, when the pin snaps ( and mine has done a few times now) the piston for the back brakes goes down and stays down preventing the fluid from being pumped. So as is always the case its off to the re-sleeving guy again to put it right and reconnect the pin. Have solved the problem now though, have fitted a later model angled resevior master cylinder and neve had the problem since, touch wood.

 So if you have this round lockheed type could be something to check, or look at replacing. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks everyone for your advise, i should be able to find out the problem with all that info. Will try to see the van tomorrow and have a look.
