i am selling a lwb van has no rust but needs work also has no engine is setup for a v8 tho i do have the v8 that i will be selling seperate its a 307 chev
-
How much are you looking at selling the van and engine for, together.
How much for just the van?
-
1500 im wanting for it 2000 with i have just listed it on ebay for 800 but im hoping to get 1500 for it 2000 with motor
-
Doesn't sound to bad. Unfortunately I'm a 'P' plater and can't drive a V8 at the moment.
What has to be done to the van to get it on the road? Besides the engine.
-
atm the front cross member has my van front in it atm it has six cylinder engine mount setup but the floor hole cut out is for a v8 it will need front indicators whipers but they are there but in the van seat need to be bolted back in requires a bit i guess spoise u might just have to come look if u are interested has no rust its a good van
-
With the floor cut out I'm not sure how it would go for a road worthy, I'll be honest I'm not to good with cars hence why I'd rather one with an engine and ready to go but I know with Bedfords you sometimes have to start from scratch. But again I cannot drive a V8 which is a real downside. I will have a bit more of a think and get back to you.
Thank you alot though.
-
check ebay out there are afew on there that i have seen
-
Yeah, I'm trying to get in contact with the blue van in Vic.
Struggling but getting there I guess.
-
hey nick, someone here may correct me if i'm wrong, but just because the floor is cut for a V8, does'nt mean you have to have a V8, once the engine cover is on, no one would know. Also, you are in vic, you have a lot of beddy guys there that could do what you can't. So long as it is road worthy, you can do it up in time.
george.

True george
And I think that the v8 & 6 share the same engine mounts.
Not having seen it I cant comment to much but the blue one (the singers one) sounds like a good one.
Us vic blokes are a friendlly bunch and we could help you out.
for some BEER :D

To be honest I really don't know to much. My main concern was that hole cut out would be bigger then the engine, therefore having too much space and down Victoria, VicRoads are pricks. And because I'm a 'P' plater they make so hard for me to get a roadworthy.
This is why I'm scared about all this. My next problem would be, where would I get a 6 cylinder engine and get it fitted in? I'm unfortunately on a budget of 6000.
I'm really stuck on what I go for. I like the blue one only cause it was easier but I'm still unsure.
Everyone loves beer :)

My advice is get yourself something that runs and runs well. If work is required to get it running then steer well clear. If it's been modified then make sure it has up to date certification or whatever it is you need to have it on the road.
This is your first Bedford and you want a positive experience to go on with. If you spend your hard-earned dollars on something that needs work to get running you will lose interest fast and probably do your best just to get rid of it and never have anything to do with Bedfords again which would be a shame.
It's a bit different for a lot of us on here as we have been doing this for years and in some cases decades so we know a bit more of what it's about. Hopefully if you have a positive experience you one day will too.
Get something straight and running and you can start making small modifications as you go and start learning about what makes cars run. That's how I started all those years ago and there's no stopping me now!
Good luck and there is plenty of experience and advice on this site so use it. Feel free to PM me if you want a second opinion on anything you find on here to purchase.
-
Alright thanks. I will take and use your advice as I do want it to be a good experince. I've loved Bedfords for years and they have been around alot longer then I have.
So I will aim for a Bedford that is running. I'm trying to get in contact with owner of the Blue SWB on ebay but I'm really struggling to contact him at the moment but I will keep trying because it sounds like a good van.
Thankyou for the advice :) I appriciate it a lot.

at 1/3 of the price of the blue one it might be what your looking for.
Are you looking for something complete or something you can personalize and make your own?
-
I've been told I should go for something complete as it is my first van and I am young.
So at the moment IU'm looking for vans that are easy and cheap to get on the road.
Thanks though.

hey nick, i paid $900 for my van back in the early 90s, and it was a good stepping stone. I had to spend about $2000 to get it regoed and on the road, but it was worth it once i started driving around in it. Back in the day when i had both legs, i was all over the van like white on rye, learning how to work on it myself. Now that i am in a wheelchair i have to rely on the trades to do the work, but i can tell you now, with only one eye, that eye scrutinises everything. As you will see, i have now got the van back to a shell, and i am doing a complete custom and modern van, with all the latest gear and technology. If you can get that van for $900, go for it, and then teach yourself how to do things on it, they are a good vehicle to cut your teeth on, and as i have found, although i have had my van since about 96, what i still dont know, the guys on here are a workshop manual in themselves. Let me just say, in my case hands on is the best teacher, even now i sit in my chair and when the van is on the hoist, i am there underneath with the mechanic getting my hands dirty, only death will stop me from being part of the new build. I now know every little bit of my van, and it is not over yet. lol ;D :D ;) ::) :o Good luck on whatever you choose, and like me you will be one very happy little vegemite.
george.
-
LOL George...I just had an image of you loaded up with all the spanners and parts on ya lap like a self powered tool trolley shuttling around the workshop. ;D Onya buddy :D
-
i'm guessing its the coolest chair in the land, mini workbenches, tool holders, stubby holder - knowing you mate it's probably turbo as well!! Inspirational my friend!
-
cant go past that one on ebay at the mo, it looks the goods and is in way better nick than mine was when i bought it - i'd be looking seriously at that one.
-
hey george ,. . .bet u even hav a beddy bonnet badge mounted somewhere too mate ;D ;D ;D ;D

This one that Hotrod posted looks the goods. It's still there and it runs! Get rid of the 'Street Idol' on the side and it'll look quite sharp.

hey guys, i have an apron loaded with pockets for tools and bits, but yeh i am zooming round the workshop as a gotha for the tradies. I have a corner in my shop where all the new goodies go while their waiting to go on the van, so when it's busy i am forever tearing up and down my worksop. The shop is 18mx10m so i get a good workout. lol. I just get so frustrated sitting there and watching, so i just have to get in there and do my bit. Hey nick, b4 i started working on beddies, i had no idea of how to pull out a front crossmember, and disc brakes were like doing open heart surgury, now though i can talk about them and i understand what is being said, i mean i'm no expert but by the time we have pulled them out again a few more times i will be more comfortable. In my case i am a hands on beddy owner, you will be very surprised nick how quick you learn about beddys. I have told my mechanic i want to help with rebuilding of my V6, not just watch. And yes guys i do have bedford badges and laminated pics all over the place, my office is covered in them. Here is one i have on a shelve in my office, found it at a wreckers one day while getting some gear. $5 oh yehhhhhh.
george.
I may be in a chair, and i may have the odd bad day, but on the good days i make up for it, and every now and then working on my beddy helps my bad days less bad. lol ;D
george.
-
Now there is inspiration right there !!! ;) :D ;D
-
onya george ;)
-
hey george
IM hearing you If Ive had abad day (@#$%^&*) luv working on a bedford AAAHHHHH
