ive been considering a theme to go on the new paint job, but i wouldn't be basing it around a movie.. although im sure there are some great porn titles..

my main concern is that there are so many themes eg. the beast, the judge, city lights etc.. that it would be difficult picking one that hasn't been done..

My mate is pretty keen to paint it (has been for about 10 years).. i might just dedicate it to my Grandad.. or maybe "The Restoration" or "The Finished Product", "The End Result"
haha

Star Trek Van was from South Australia,LWB 307 chev, black with gold and white flames coming from the front.
Several murals but the back doors filled in had a spock mural against a planet saturn background(bloody brillant),might have been a Rowan whatsis name job.
Had photos but I know I dont now.
Most of the obvious theme vans were panel vans, but joe public always warms to something that is easily recognised. :)

Hi all, I would guess that it cost a lot more to airbrush a beddy than a HQ, could be why beddy vans have more of a flash paint job then a themed mural. As of today I think the best known theme van out there in QLD has to be Kathy's Alien8 van, maybe I'm wrong. When I got a quote a few months ago, to airbrush my van, for a theme, they quoted $10,000, ???  I asked about vinyl , most people were sceptical as vinyl lifts over time, and because I wanted to clear over it so you could'nt feel the edge of vinyl where mural finished and paint started, painters told me I would need a load of clear to get to that point. So I scrapped the murals and have settled on a new paint job. Soon to be revealed. ;D

10k ay. sounds like pocket change if your a flippen millionare!!! otherwise its not so easy to come by. especially seeing bedfords are prone to rust

Millionair, yep that was the dream I had last week, hoho, mind you, the quote for vinyl was between 5 and 10 gran, depending on graffics, I was not going to take shortcuts and pay for something I was never going to be happy with. The look I have chosen now is going to be a lot cheaper, but look a million. B4 I pick up the phn, I always have 3 options in mind, in my case the first 2 crashed, 3rd will happen.

a lot of tatoo artists start out doing air brushing etc. ask around and you should be able to find someone trying to get into the scene, do them a deal, let them sign their name on the work and feature it on their profile/CV

A good way would be to take up air brushing, they have class at nite and week ends for the classy stuff. it's not something you learn overnight. the wife has been doing it 2 years part time. l would let her do something of mine (but l have too). Any way the point l was tring to make is some of the instructers are great, their work is awesome

Hey I will be looking for some art work on my van in the comming months. Nothing too difficult, and just words with some pictures mostly. Just the name of the van, and a couple of cards type thing...

Id be interested in giving your wife a shot, and id be happy to let her do a picture or something and sign it.

well just think about it, no rush.

kirk, l spoke to the wife, shes scared to take on a van at this stage, but will be keen if Bruce or Steve ( her instructers would assist).  She will be seeing them with in the next couple of weeks. we have a bloke up here called Trevor, goes by the name Dennis The Menice, he does a lot of work at the bike shop, his very good, and so is Bruce. they both do a one work. So if your interested get in contact when your ready to go a head

Rossie's idea is the way to go. I did an airbrushing course a few years back with Airbrush Ventury and will be doing the art work on my van. I'm planning to get the base paint done in a shop as you really need the booth etc to get it right. It'll come out as a finished paint job, then I'll hit it with the murals, graphics etc and clear again over the top myself.

Going with the Star Trek theme at this stage, hense the vans name "Genesis" from the Wrath of Khan movie. I might throw some murals on before heading down to the nationals at Easter, just to test out a few ideas, but that depends on time which is pretty tight at the moment.

when i was panelbeating we had this guy who brought the latest HSV (this is a few years ago now), and he had his car keyed 3 times (keyed, fixed, keyed, fixed, keyed, fixed) for reasons unknown but was probably jealously.
In the end he sold the car cause his insurance premiums went through the roof.

Also know of a hot rodder who's T-bucket had a bottle of brake fluid poured all over it.

to many scum in this world - they should have a open scum season

haha Griff that's awesome, i might dedicate a spot inside the van for that ;)

In terms of the c***s scratching cars, it should be an offence punishable by death to damage another man/woman's vehicle.

As much as i'm not a fan of HSVs, it's disappointing to hear that people allow their jelousy to be destructive..

the only person who maliciously scratches my car is the wife.  she does it fairly frequently too

also had an es esk ess, an eskkk (one of them) show van which was keyed and a plymouth hotrod with murals (done by Devo) very similiar to those shown (just about every dirty old perv asked my wife if she modelled for them, and no she didn't as the ones in the mural were way perkier!) It too copped rocks one night on the freeway and the number of people who didn't respect others property or worse let their kids run riot! found one kid walking along the sideboards and up the guard while mum watched. NO SUBTLE  way to say f off when there is shitloads of $$$ worth of paintwork. you soon learn how far the umbilical cord stretches when in public(line of sight was the limit)
