Is there a cheap way of sending money between NZ and Aus?
The reason I ask is that a couple of the guys here have been after parts that I no longer have a need for due to various customisations and I'm quite happy to give the parts away as I would rather someone got some use out of them rather than throwing out a perfectly good part which kind of irritates me. All I would like is the postage reimbursed.
The easiest way is just to transfer money between bank accounts but the previous experience I had with SandB was that the bank was going to charge him $30 to transfer $10. Bit ridiculous really.
Any ideas chaps?

western union or paypal
western union costs a little
-
what bank are you with rouge trooper? if its one the same as ours you can just pop it in over here i think.
cheers

send them postage due
-
Never had that problem Rogue.
I just direct transfer to an account anywhere in the world. No fees.
-
So do you want that indicator stalk then?
-
what about ANZ? Australia New Zealand bank.
its the main bank i use.
-
i tried them , it´s still an international transfer
-
you can do a money order but that cost, ??? you can do paypal but that cost, ??? western union, they recomend dont use them, ??? you can change the dollar at you local bank but they charge you for that to, ??? nz and australia dont have a banking relationship between the to countrys, westpac anyway, and westpac is aussie owned, and as far as i no this applys to all the other banks aswell, i no this because iv'e done the exercise, the easiest and quickest way for me anyways was paypal so go fiqure, you think in this day and age this exercise would be simple without having to take out a morgage just to pay the god dame bank fee's ::)
-
far out this world just revolves around that paper n plastic shit,(money)
what about carrier pigoen ? lol.

How does this pay pal thing work as I have just had someone want to buy our commodore we have for sale and they have requested my pay pal id request. So if anyone can enlighten me as to how I go about this, how it works and is it safe?
Cheers Jeff

its a pain in the butt! dont use it if you dont have to.
seller gets stung with high fee's for money coming into your account, then it takes usually 3-5 days to get the money into your account.
tell the seller you dont have paypal and dont know how to use it!!!
only my opinion.
also herd stories of sellers being jibbed after someone picks up an item that they paid by paypal seller making out they have not recieved the goods and reported the seller, then the buyer gets the goods and their money back no questions!
you can get your money back if you have a written reciept and you go through the system, so make sure you get a signed reciept!!

The other problem with Paypal is if you have an issue you generally have to get on the phone to the States. Email support is really limited especially as you need to verify who you are to be able to do anything with your account.
-
actually i have not found their phone support to be too bad. we have a toll free number here in aus. still pain thou

paypal is great for transferring money between countries,
For domestic transactions it is more expensive for the seller so i try not to accept it.
since they are not a bank they are not governed by any banking laws and you have no comeback if they screw you
http://www.paypalsucks.com/ (http://www.paypalsucks.com/)
basically it´s great until it goes wrong, only use it if you need to

You probably have that because you also have a local ebay prescence who own Paypal.

also herd stories of sellers being jibbed after someone picks up an item that they paid by paypal seller making out they have not recieved the goods and reported the seller, then the buyer gets the goods and their money back no questions!
thats why i send the item registered and insured if the buyer pays by paypal,
but some idiots have told me they,d pay by bank deposit then used paypal the wankers!
so i got even less for the item in the long run.
im just gunna add the costs in advance from now on and reimberse the buyer later if they do the right thing.

get the cash when they pic the car up jeff, its the best way
-
Yeah that is what I'm going to do, the whole email chain reads a bit dodgey. I posted no pics in the ad and only listed the specs of the car for sale, yet the person interested has asked no questions about the condition of the car, nothing, only that he wishes to buy the car. He has offered $100 more than we advertised the car for and he wants to buy the car and would I agree to sell it to him. He claims he is a busy man and a sailor working on goverment sailing sea craft. He does not have time to come and look at the car but "his shipping agents will come down to my doorstep after the payment as being made out to you"
All sounds a bit sus to me so I will insist on cash only on pickup see if I hear back from him.
Thanks all for your feedback on pay pal
Cheers Jeff

i never part with goods till their paid for and cleared and the money is in my account.
ebay charge $30 for the sale of a boat or car, and paypal take a persentsentage % so beware of ebay and paypal
ive been ripped off a few times with paypal.
the last ebayer to pay me for 2 lousy bedford door handles opened a paypal dispute because the handles never got to tasmania within 3 days.
so then paypal put my paypal account on debt hold for a lousy dam $15 set of door handles.
ive blocked this ebayer from ever bidding on my things again
i dont want those kinda people bidding on my things
stuff paypal i say, and the next buyer that wants to pay by paypal can incur the damn charges.
im going to state that in my adds and if ebay dont like it they can get
f#$%d 2.

check it out jeff.. they have tried it twice on me now!!!
the 2 times they tried it on me they were almost identicle emails i recieved?? they are not very creative? if i was scaming id at least mix it up and make it interesting.. or make it sound like a real buyer.

but palpay works both ways i only pay with it now days i did a bank transfer on ebay once and never got what i ordered and no chance off getting my money back but with palpay no worries
-
yes i agree its more secure for the buyer.
-
i had 2 make a claim through paypal once and they refunded the item cost but not the postage cost,
and the postage cost was $28
so i wasnt very happy.
-
Well I emailed "fred" that I would only accept cash on pickup and suggested that his "shipping agents" could bring this when they "come to my door step" but almost instantainley recieved a return email stating he was a "busy man and was on the sea and and couldn't get money to his shipping agents" and strongly advised me to use pay pal.
I am very convinced this is con, so I intend to alert the authorities and the AA whose site it is listed on so they can keep an eye out for other people being contacted by this scammer and warn people or even prevent them from making contact with their customers through their site.
Will let you know if I ever hear back from the scammer again.
Cheers Jeff
