Title: how do I find this out?

Hey all

I was wondering how to find out if a vehicle has been registered as a 350V8? I have asked the dept of transport and they wont tell me shite as it is not my vehicle as yet, so I only have to word of the previous owner.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
