HI
Ive been offered a mint 3.8 liter V6 comonhore engine and trans, complete with looms, eng and trans comps, cheap.
Ive heard very good things about these engines and seriously thinking about grabing them and swaping the 186 and trimatic out for them, once ive done a bit of the body work.
Anyone know of another CF running this set up ??
Cheers

SandB are running that set up, if you look on the old site for submissions by (if I remember correctly) Niel Apple it shows photos

Hi Rusty
I have one, I put it in 8 years ago and its still going strong. I would rate it as a moderatey complex conversion. But it has been worth it with great performance and economy. There has been no over heating problems in 40 degree Canberra heat and it runs just as well in -5 Canberra winters. if you can read a wiring diagram then you can do the electrical and the rest is the same as any other engine swap.

Thanks Noid
No worries with the wireing, im an auto sparky by trade, hush though dont tell anyone ok.
Last conversion id did was custom Mini truck I put a 3 liter turbo MA70 Supra and 5 speed into a Mazda ute and added power steering.
It was great result with a hybid turbo and a few other mods I had a very light uts with 190KW under the hood.
That went really well, 13's on the quarter mile.
I looked at some pics from links the guys posted today, dosent look to bad.
How did you get on re sump and pick up ??
I take it the ECM unit only needs the basic hook up ?
Cheers

Hi Rusty
No worries, should be a walk in the park and yes it was a basic hook up. I wired it up into the existing loom, took me a couple of weekends but would know doubt take you less. Over here in Oz you can buy a lot of prefabed stuff for conversations. I made my own mounts but I bought the sump and pick up from v6 conversions. Saved the guess work and reduced the risk of destroying a good engine.

Hi Rusty.....I was browsing thru the OLDHOLDEN.COM site the other week and was reading one of the members own webpage on how he fitted a v6 commodore motor and auto box into his hz holden. He has some good pics of the conversion with different sections covering ,electrics, sump mods, engine mounts, ect. I will try and track the web page down for ya.....Cheers..johnno

WhoooHooo! it worked!!! :D Even though it is in a holden he still had to overcome similar probs with the sump shape and wiring. A good read...cheers...johnno
