Title: Who got the cheap CFL on ebay?
Post by: BlackBedford on June 19, 2009, 11:10:28 PM
G'day

I have been on the road all week and saw this on ebay:
1979 CF BEDFORD CAMPER VAN, LPG / PETROL, ANNEXE UHF CB
   Item number: 250445520590

I rang him and he said that he sold it to the first offer over $3000.
I was too late.
Looks like a bargain to me.
So who got it?

G'day

Good to hear.
It sounds like you got a bargain.
I found a CFL that has been stripped of good bits and needs a LOT of work. He wants $1200 for it.

You mean you're going to bang it several times a day for the first 2 weeks and then start eyeing off another?

yikes  :o ..... at least the steps are good

lol, the steps have been repaired.
I'm just glad that i didn't know that the seatbelt anchor and seat bolts had rusted out while i was driving home.
I have a freind who is gonna get me welding (as opposed to 'blobbing' which is what i usually do),
just gonna take a while.

Really do wish someone had replaced the windscreen rubber about 8 years ago  :D

G'day
So is it still a bargain or what?

hmmmmmmmmmm
No, not a bargain, but i'm not totally gutted.
i doubt i've found it all , but i hope i've found the worst.
Around the windscreen is gonna be interesting, i'm starting to notice the lack of grace as it curves around the window
I've seen much worse, but the respray was definitely on the dodgy side (paint over silicone in the rust holes)
All the camping stuff is pretty average.....
the drive home (900km) was good

All in all, it will be a while before it is back on the road, and i'm sure my mood will swing wildly as it goes on (and on)

Best of luck to you Worzel. I certainly wouldn't take it on. It's when I see that that I'm really glad I've hung on to mine. Bought mine almost 20 years ago now when I was still looking at moving out of home. Started off with a hiss and a roar and then kind of spluttered as I was flatting and it made it really hard to take a van apart as you didn't know if you were going to be out on your ear the following week. Still languished after I bought my house and it's only been within the last couple of years I've got the bug back.

Sometimes it's been like a noose around my neck but I'm really glad now I kept it all those years. My little repair spots are nothing compared to that. Learning to weld is the best thing you can do I reckon and that's what has rekindled my interest.

You go Worzel!!!

Any beddie that will travel 900km to get home has got to have something going for it !!! Start welding Worzel  :D It will only improve with practice and why not use this camper as a starting point? ;) Go for it!!!!! ;D

im feeling bloody lucky picking mine up for $800 after viewing those pics!

i have a bit or rust where the seat box sat on the passenger side but nothing like that....

really speaking though its a straight cut and patch job by the look of it with no bends so even with my limited skills i would no be to scared to take it on.

one thing i learned from this site is anything can be fixed and made to look better then original with the right attitude and the right advice.

now if anyone can do something about the two months rain in geelong so i can bog and spray again im listening ;D  im getting a guilt complex.
