As a classic Bedford bus owner i can tell you Bedford buses have only ever been fitted with three makes of engine from factory, Perkins diesel, Bedford Diesel and petrol and Leyland diesel and petrol engines.

They were never fitted factory with a GM V8 although some may have used Perkins V8 diesel's at one point in time.
This would only have been in the bigger long haul coaches and composits.

G'day

Where are you?

I guess your problems are RTA related.
The RTA have listings of what the manufacture specifications were for each model in each year. If your bus is not to their specification you will need an Engineers Report. That is when it can get difficult.

Hey Vanders

welcome to the site.

A few questions for a start.

Is the Bus registered, was it when you bought it?

A V8 conversion in a bus or truck is common, and due to the design and strenght of the vehicle does not have the same impact as sticking a V8 in a passanger car, which needs other major components upgraded (eg brakes & steering).

Because the bus is already designed to carry a large weight all iits components should be up to task.

The main thing I think would be that the conversion has been done in a sound and proffesional manner.

Ring the RTA or talk to your Roadworthy guy ofr more info, but if everything is sound then you shouldnt have to many headaches.

Best of luck

Warren
