Ok here is the dilema.
I have a ton of ideas for my interior and a pretty good idea of what i want to do on most of the exterior, flairs, side skirts, gull wing side door, roof aerofoil etc.
But I cant work out what to do with my grill area, the XC fairmont grills look great, but it's been done again and again, if youve got one I dont mean to upset you, but it has been done eh.
By the way does the XC front even suit the CF2 nose ?
Ive spent hours and hours on the net and going through the gallery and have a few ideas but nothing gel's
So im thinking maybe a few heads are better than one here, so what crazy or cool ideas can you come up with ??
I dont want some great big sloping nose cone that looks like a ski slope and id like to stay 80's retro.
Id also like to go duel head lamps either side by side or rectangular one above the other.
So with a bit of a brief im putting it out there, lets see how creative you lot really are.

always liked and hope to do one day the hx hz twin headlight front, almost bought one years ago but got dicked around by car salesman(go figure)
Maybe a computer wizz could do one of their piccy thingos!
-
how wild do you want to go ?
However Iv always wanted to do a billit star type of grill bit hard to explain but Ill try and draw it. :-\
-
go chevy van style, or even the toyota van ? does the dual headlights
-
I just missed out on a CF-Chev style van grill with twin head lamps, this was a repro part made in the 80's for Cf's and it just sold on TM for about $130.00
At this stage im leaning toward a set up with twin rectangle head lamps stacked one above the other and a simple custom alloy bar grill.
Craig im interested to see what your star billit idea looks like, it might fit well with the western theme of the van.
HotRod im having a brain fade I will have to do a Google on HX & HZ and refresh my memory.
Cheers

Ah yes now i remember the HZ ummm possible but id like to stay away from just grafting another cars front in.
As for how wild, well im open to a challenge, does'nt mean il except it, but try me hehe :-\

Thanks Craig
Awesome mate, I like that first one real early Fairlane grill, but im stil real keen on the duel retangles like that white van you posted, very cool.
Im off to pick a part tomorrow if its fine, going to spend a few hours poking around and measuring things up, going to do some more research on power steering racks too.
Cheers

Two Eddie..... ;) but one's a bit ordinary, still can't bring myself to cut a perfect front end :-\
-
letmeletmeletm Im gonna cut when your not home!!! ;D
-
yeah I'm hearing you Dano bro, the missus doesn't favor the original front on the tow van and shes on me to insert a ford grill like bens black beddie, so cut away we must!!! looks like a bit of work adapting those lmoulds then having to find the rectangle twin lights then of course making a new light box to mount the lights then making a new grill to match, I like the look of bungers grill (the white van with blue rear flares in warrens gallery) simple plain but effective, I now have two weeks off to work on the vans, offered the campa to Warren as I just got hit with a $2000 bill that I didn't know about so the tow van budget now goes direct to pay that bill, some would say BUMMER ....... but me, sheet happens and we move on, its only money (yeah right) .... are those twin light moulds surface mounted?
-
So Dano
These lights are they retangular one above the other ??
AND do you want to sell a set ??

I'm making up a twin light system for mine with a new front end, will post pictures when done.
-
love that front end spoiler , looks shmint!!! no need for change, but if that front spoiler is glass and you dont' want it , send it over! is it a sooby doo one?
-
Yes its glass, I have the mould, just layed one up for myself, was making from the same mould in the 80s good to have it back.
-
is the cf2 the same as cf1 for front end under the grill??
cheer
ben

Hay Ben, no it is totaly different (there is no front panel) under the grill, as the whole front panel is the support panel take this away and there is nothing there you can just wheel your motor out. Look in my Gallery under the new motor photo this is what it looks like. , the spoiler is for Mk1 I cut the top of and reglassed over the bumber, So the Mk2 bumber is still under the spoiler. I don't do glass work anymore only for myself. I built all the Bedford moulds when I was your age, but now for my dash I will buy one from you for my van and not make one myself.
Cheers Bas.
Hay but may do a few changes to it to suit myself.....
-
I've seen the job done, he's done a great job of it, the whole van looks good
-
Here is an idea I had for the front end of my CF2.
I seen this font end off a Discovery and I think it could fit without to much work. I have to take some measurements. Grill and headlights, cool.
What do you think?
